Guild Wars, questions...

OMG about time.... Leaving for hom in 7 minutes......
About 20 minutes to get home then another 5 to get my things sorted

so thats about 32 minutes to Guild wars..... :D :D :D :D
 
ok need advice:

just had a bit of a scare..... i clicked on a video that i had downloaded then half way through my pc locks up my hard drive starts making some funny noise.

i switch off at the plug restart and sorry for me my pc doesnt want to boot up
i try all sorts of things eventually i get in and do a scan at next restart....
after scan it says sorry windows cannot start because c:/windows/system32/system file is missing !!!!!!!

thankfully some how i managed to get back in and do a system restore.... all seems fine now.

do you think it was a virus ??
or was i hacked ??

thats the last time i download from guzer regardless!

Uhm, lemme see... as far as items and weapons go, I don't really sell them unless they are green. Reason for this is that you must have loads of patience in trying to sell the purple / blue items and the prices are really not worth it (for me at least), iow <1k.
And as we mentioned earlier, greens are very common these days so they don't even fetch a huge price.
Seeing that you have purple items, they may have worthwhile runes (major runes of course, if items were picked up after the recent updates) or weapon upgrades on them. With weapon upgrades, I favor the +hp and +armor bonuses more than anything else. Once again, not to sell, but to upgrade maybe some of my existing weapons. :D
There are a few gold (sometimes blue and purple as well) items which has what they call "max stats" on them, for instance on weapons, they would advertise "Damage +15%, when health is above 50%". This is a max statistic. Something like this on a weapon is a good stat. There are several others like these, skills bonuses, spell recharges, etc. It is possible to salvage these bonues of as well for yourself for maybe upgrading an existing weapon / item. :cool:

You do get the really rare items which sells for a good price, these are the IDS's (Icy Dragon Sword, looks cool) and FDS's (Fiery Dragon Sword, Prince Rurik's sword) and the crystalline swords. These sell for easily between 20K-100K. Nice! :eek:

@Dan, sounds to me like you need a reinstall, your system partition is starting to go. I wouldn't chalk it up to being a virus. Your system simply locked up and if you got that error (system file missing) it is indicative your system is in an unhealthy / unstable state. :eek:
Try doing some scandisks and defrags and see if your problem goes away. It should make your pc more responsive doing these as well.
Might make sure your pc is updated with latest OS pacthes and antivirus is also updated, for safety-sake. ;)

There are no real deadset rules, people easily ask more than 2k for a gold item, depending on its stats of course. Check the link and if you have the time, make some money! :cool:
 
this lag is an interesting new develpment...

had very bad lag all day, but was better tonight. but still not absent and worse than ussual. wonder what the causes could be :p
 
I must have been the lucky one today (or yesterday, whatever) no lag at all for me!! :D
Capped my first ELITE as well in Factions! w0000t :D

@freeek, that necro rune can fetch you a nice price if I am not mistaken. :cool:
Mr (or issit Lord??) McCrack was looking for a bow but I think he is smiling since he sourced a green one... :D
 
@ paragon - here is hoping that its all sorted by tonight!! :D because it really was great all weekend

maybe when the '' newer build please restart guild wars" updates being downloaded by 3 million people might have something to do with it ?
 
I tried playing this whole weekend with 2 of my saix accounts and both had terrible lag so yesterday when my IS account got uncapped and I tried it and didnt have any lag so to be sure I tried my saix again and it was dog slow.

Can some1 please explain to me the new build because I cant see any difference between the 2 and I did exit and download the latets updates when I got the message to exit and download latest stuff.
 
hhmm, they only released one build that I know about which was last night @ about 21:00. (Am trying to recall if there were any others over the weekend, hhmmm maybe one, but dont think anymore than that.) :cool:
These build updates are however not big updates, it is small changes to the client launcher and the ins-and-outs that are linked to your character / account. It is also not all the gamers that download it at the same time, at the most people that are in towns at the time that are willing to log out.
I am not aware of any big updates that were happening in the background or even happening in the login console.
ANet have also not released anything. :)

Quite frankly, I do not think you will be able to spot the differences of the build updates, unless you know what specifically to look for. For my money, I do not think this is what is causing lag problems. This is confirmed with your IS account working without problems.
Are you perhaps in DBN? There were definite problems with SAIX ADSL in DBN. :eek:

I am also on a SAIX capped account, and did not have any serious issues whatsoever with lag, absolutely no disconnections. As previously mentioned I only had brief periods of a "pause" effect and that was pretty much it. :p
 
Phoned Kalahari earlier, they say I will have my CE by Thursday...
Cutting it awfully close with the "10-day grace period" I reckon :(
 
collecting Factions vanilla after work... but apparently there are more further downloads after you install Factions as well...
 
@useless, if it is the same as Prophecies you will probably have to download some updates after installing Factions from CD (known as a clean install).
This update size should not be substantial though, seeing that Factions just came out and shouldn't be very far out of date on the CD.
I myself did not have to download a huge amount of updates, seeing that I linked Factions to my Prophecies account (iow complete Prophecies and Factions preview event updates), on 27th+28th I probably downloaded 100MB at most. :D
 
As matter of interest, I know of at least 2 other ADSL guys (excluding this forum) that have had mixed experiences wrt lag. The one had no lag (uncapped) the other had terrible lag up to being disconnected several times (capped status unknown). Both are with WebAfrica (which I think is IS). :p
 
Nope lildeath webafrica is saix but only recently started to also sell IS so theres a good chance ur friends might be on the saix part of webafrica
 
Thus far I have confirmed 2 irregularities with GuildWars Europe (PlayNC Support) regarding Factions:
1/ The Death with Honor mission is being investigated by them. The main NPC char gets stuck in a wall (Jaya Bluffs) close to mission end.
2/ Henchmen / NPC AI and movement is lacking. iow, you and NPC's can block each other (especially in Bukdek and Wajjun maps) and when being killed and henchies are too far away / blocked they cannot find a way or figure out a way to come to you for resurrection.
They are on it. :D
