Guild Wars, questions...

@aCe, I'm sure I read that last part about the Canthan characters, I just blocked it out cause it was too traumatical :p

The reason I posted it was because your accounts should have been freezed out already. You should still have till the 8 May to activate your account with a factions key.

Doesn't really matter now that you have your CE :(

Mines only arriving on Monday :(

Wow, some really tough characters you guys are :/
If SAIX are having problems I am not affected by it. They have also not confirmed anything. :p
There were cable breaks in Melkbos, consequently Rosebank and then they also had issues further upstream.
I actually have experienced what you describe in FoW before Factions were launched in SF runs. Terrible experiences. Just terrible!
Then again this has always been part of the game, n00bs thinking they know better.

hhmm, updates coming through... anybody any idea how much I am in for?

edit: ok not much, about 1MB in the client launcher and not very much more in the interface.

Ye, Factions char was not accessible since yesterday, still played on Monday till about 1am on Tuesday morning. Think they removed access @9am.
Prophecies chars all still online, just could not get to Cantha.

edit: bummer about your CE :(

That's my point though. You should have been able to still play with the chars until the 8 May like their statement said :)

arg this lil bit of lag is peeing me off!

never experienced this with guild wars before - i'm also with iburst fishfly!
and up till now i've had no worries is it better for you yet ?

@ lildeath - i know how you feel - i hadnt looked at the forums for about 3 hours and boom! 4 more pages :D

I stand under correction but most if not everybody goes international with saix.

So although you might be with iburst locally you're not using them for international traffic hence the reason you're having such major lag issues.

aaah sweet thanks aCe...music to my ears :)

at least that way something is gonna get done about it, if it was just my conn prob then... :(

theres hope!

"However, you will need to add a Factions (retail) key to your account in order to play with any Canthan characters after the end of the Extended Head Start Event."

hhmm, I actually am reading it that they meant pre-order will only have access till end of head start event, after which you will still have some 3-4 days to enter a retail key before the "grace period" ends... anyhoo
I am online now regardless, only lost one evening of Factions, ended up playing some Prophecies. :D

edit: @aCe, WTH??!! Did I read a couple of posts ago that you said you got GW access from work??
If so, gratz, that's a sweet deal...:D

hhmm, don't wanna get too technical about this but if you mean SAIX as in TELKOM (because TELKOM is owner of SAIX, yes the plot thickens :D), then yes, everybody goes through their pipe internationally.
But when I am talking about SAIX I am only talking about their network and services side of things (SAIX is very much separated from the TELKOM network and considered a separate entity) and the portion that was problematic was only relating to their network and services. IS was still fine. This is to my knowledge and I try to stay as current as possible.

Both, IS and SAIX, have dedicated bandwidth allocations on the Telkom international pipe, but it is not the same bandwidth iow they do not compete or affect each other's bandwidth / traffic directly. Only when Telkom has a big failure will both IS and SAIX have issues.
So, to conclude, TELKOM had a partial failure, which is the part allocated to SAIX, but not a complete failure because IS was without hassles.

OK, class dismissed, must play Factions now :D

(ok ok, last post for now, promise :D)
for those that have followed the posts today, my online hrs for the Assassin is closer to 38hrs (and this is actual game time, not standing-around-in-towns-dancing-time) and not the 30hrs I stated earlier. I have lvl'd several times after reaching lvl20.
Over and out :D

yip... nice... now we can just get things organized within the thread. :)

@Pitbull, dunno what question you talking about...

@Dan, SAIX had some issues again last night. Was supposedly only affecting leased lines and dial-up users (not ADSL), was working again before 9pm. Durban was also stuffed during this time.
I myself played on WebAfrica ADSL last night and didn't have any bad experiences, 'cept for the odd 'pause' now and again.
Was later on SAIX and no issues whatsoever.
