Guild Wars, questions...

Sorrow's Furnace is South-East of Beacon's Perch. It is a high level area, so as mentioned above, probably best to first finish the main story and be level 20 before you try to go there. You will certainly get flamed if you try to get into a party there at anything other than level 20.

Ok will wait til later, Im only lvl 15 now, so hopefully itll be soon :D

Yes, you need to be level 20 and fairly experienced in staying alive, otherwise you will just spend all your time there lying dead in the snow/gravel, which will not be much fun.

Stepped into the Underworld last night for the first time hoping to find a Storm or Eternal Bow.........

But, out of 4 attempts there was always 1 person who would accept the quest and we'd all be anhilated by the stacks of mobs attacking.

Anyone got good 1st hand experience they would like too share of the Underworld?
You talking 'bout The Underworld from ToA or Tomb of Primeval Kings?
Myself had a strange exp later when I went into the one at Kings... PC completely hung, couldn't do **** :(
Decided to leave it like that and this morning it was still on the same game screen... w3ird

From the description about the quest at the beginning, that is the underworld from ToA. I had the same kinds of experiences. There is always some idiot in the group that takes the first quest and gets the group killed in about five seconds, despite repeated warnings not to take the quest until the area is clear. Which means that it is about 200 gold per second for the visit, which is a bit expensive in my opinion. I have visited the ToA UW a couple of times solo with my mesmer, but otherwise I avoid it these days. I however find the solo-ing very boring.

I think Fissue of Woe is more fun with a normal group.

Edit: For those who have not been to UW before: When one takes the quest from the ghost at the entrance inside the UW, the party gets rushed by a big group of monsters doing about 500 damage per hit, aka single hit kills for most characters. For an unprepared party, that is instant death. Even prepared parties often wipe against the first set of (non-quest) monsters without killing a single one of them. The ghost stands there with his little green exclamation mark over his head, so often somebody cannot resist clicking on him.

Yeah, was TOA Underworld.

Unfortunately i did not find the Storm or Elemental Bows i was after.
Will try again tomorrow evening.

EDIT: @gkm. Haven't tried FoW yet as the Storm & Elemental bows are only to be found in UW apparently. If you like we can do the UW together at some stage, wont be as boring :D

And yep, ended up forking out about 1300g last night on entrance fees and not getting very far.

I'm really glad i chose a Monk as secondary, i for some reason always end up being the person that has to Rez the entire party.

Probably posted somewhere before on this thread, but here is a place where you can view all the armor for Chapter 1, with locations where to buy it:
http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=75

Wow, theres some really cool looking armour :D the scar pattern armour looks pretty weird tho but im sure ill give it a try.

Sheesh the prices are pretty rough  better start saving i have 5K now need loads more

I've done UW and Fow so many times.. Fow drop rates are better IMO. I always go Bonder (2000k exp on my monk) :p usually walk away with 4 to 6 shards and a few gold weapons per run :D

Those armors costing 15K each are no better than the ones costing 1.5K per piece. They are just prettier. 7.5K plus materials is normally all you need to get the best armor in the game. Anything above that is only looks.

Note, it takes about 30 seconds to kill each monster solo, so it takes a long time. And it takes carefull timing, so one cannot really type in the chat window while fighting. Any mistake is instant death. But we can certainly do a trip at some stage if you want to see how the solo fighting looks.

@Trip. I also take my monk to FoW most of the time. Not I go that often, since it normally takes longer than I have time to play in one sitting. I certainly also have not had your level of luck in terms of shards. :(

Maybe we should team up 1 day... who know's your luck might change ;)

Hmmm, been googling, there is some solo ranger build for UW but dated last year. Not sure if this is still valid : http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74327

The build fiery came up that worked for him is

Barbed Trap
Flame Trap
Dust Trap
Oath Shot
Energizing Wind
Quickening Zephyr
Throw Dirt
Whirling Defense

Some skills i still need to get.

All of this just for those bows .....

For UW, I believe trappers normally form four man teams or something like that. Other than the solo monk/mesmer, it is the main way that people farm the UW. As mentioned in that thread, one hit is often fatal, two are always fatal, so being a solo ranger sounds very risky to me.

My build is similar, except I use :

SpikeTrap (Elite)
Barbed Trap
Dust Trap
Serpents quickness
Energising Wind
Quickening Zephyr
Whirling Defence
Troll Unguent

IMO if u solo UW u must have some sort of healing. As for the traps, his traps regen too slowly.
SQ stacked with EW and QZ ... lets you lay down more traps meaning u do more high dmg :D
My stats are :

16 Wilderness rest 9 marksmanship for bow and rest into expertise.

only new trappers go in 4 man teams :p Experieced ones do solo or 2 man, more drops :D

Ye, also heard about the 4-man trapper / barrager teams.
They go in the same at the 'new' Underworld in the Tombs, they will sometimes take a warrior as a 'tank' aka meat-shield :D

Thanks trip.

Will try that out.

Still some skills mission from my Factions Char....

Have fun, the run is easy.. all you need is to know when to pull mobs.. I normally take out 5 or 6 attaxes with one pull..:D
