Guild Wars, questions...

try www.btgames.co.za it's better and any purchase over R300 = free delivery

get youself factions and start from prophecy... that way you'll understand the concept of gw better and maybe play better than 80% of the ppl in there

I would go for the original. Things are more spread out, so more time to get used to the game dynamics.

oh yeah if anyone is wondering...

Hi I'm not sure if there's a couple of these questions directed at arenanet but this is the problem:

As you are aware due to the massive influx of players to GW there seems to be constant problem of players "LEAVING" a mission/quest before completion of a quests/missions. I don't know maybe some players find it amusing to play up to a certain point and teleport back to a town just to spite the players in the mission.
(a good example is the thunderhead keep mission - myself and I'm sure numerous players has experienced - up to the end of the mission the memebers of the party would decide to leave purposefully)

My question is this: Is there in any possible way that you could include a feature that would permenantely label a player as a "Leaver/Quitter" or "Great Companinon" or "Beginner" or etc...

At least this would give an good indication that this person you are about to embark a mission/quest on is creditable

I send the GW.Euro this question.

U talking about buying both? coz if u only buy Factions u cannot access Tyria (Prophecies)

Ye, Prophecies (original) is a good start... u dont get thrown staight into the mix... dont get me wrong, they do start newbies very well in factions with training but it gets fast-paced and if you dont have a reference to start from (like the original) you may get frustrated when dying often, which can happen a lot.

I don't have a clear fav between prophecies and Factions at the moment :p

This seems to be more than a tiny annoyance lately, in both chapters. My wife got stuck trying to finish THK yesterday. She started playing at about 6pm and eventually gave up at 11. On every attempt, you get up to the keep and some twit says something like "here's the hard part... if you are not a full party :D LOLOL!!1!!11!" then drops off, followed by a 2nd and 3rd leaver, perhaps a 4th. Disgusting.

I only ran the mission once with her, just for security on having one less member that may drop and I was uber-p1$$ed. She had to sit through the same thing 7+ times. Kinda ruins the spirit of the game.

If griefers are actually stupid enough to type something like that before they leave, then you must take a screenshot (by pressing PrintScreen) or two as evidence and submit it to Arenanet as soon as possible, while they can still verify the screenshot against the server logs. Something like this might get the griefer's account banned for a couple of days or weeks and repeats will probably earn them a permanent ban. Be sure to register with Arenanet when submitting the report.

ha how's this for all time best!

I did thirsty river 53 times with my ranger (4 months after launch)... why cos everyone that I went with was a bunch of n00bs!

The tank lures everything then dies, the monky doesn't know what healing is, everyone charges into the mobs and that screwed me over :(

53 fraeking times!

P.S if anyone needs help I'm online from 10pm onwards :D I'm kinda bored lately and farming has became a pain, pvp is ok, so I'll help with anyone at this point in time :D I also need a lot of the bonuses to get the title of tyria protector :P

You noob :P

I solo'd this mission with henchman with all 4 of my prophecies characters (monk, warrior, elementalist and ranger) :)

ok.....so can i enter an alliance battle just by myself from the guild hall?

sorta like random arena....in alliance vs alliance form...launched from the guild hall ?
.....reason im asking and not pressing alliance battle....is i dont wanna accidentily screw things up for the guild.....

Arb question:.........if you look at your mini map in town....you can see peeps are either dark blue or light blue dots......what is the diff ? :P

please did you try playing this game when it was first realease? There were no such thing as www.guildwiki.co.za... there were no such thing as RUNNING... there were no such thing as teamwork - well still there's not much team work :( We had to fight from Augury to Thirsty, etc...

There were no such thing as SF or green/gold weapons...

@Dan.
Guilds join together to form guild alliances. Allied guilds then share Alliance chat and can visit each other’s guild halls. Alliances can also gain control of towns and outposts in Cantha by participating in Alliance Battles, which give them the ability to trigger events and gain access to exclusive areas.

For an alliance battle, each faction fields a team of twelve. This team is automatically formed from twelve individuals or groups of up to four pre-chosen players (meaning 3 groups of 4) in any combination that adds up to twelve.

In saying the above and then also according to the definition below, I do not think it is possible, however it is open to interpretation, because nowhere I have read you cannot use henchmen for alliance battles, plus their use of the word "automatically" above means if there are no real players, NPC's will be chosen to make up to group of 12... it may just mean you can on your own go into an alliance battle with 11 NPC's:

Alliance Battles
Alliance Battles are large-scale, strategic PvP battles that allow factions to conquer new territory.

Quite frankly, personally, I cannot see why they, ANET, would open it up to allow 1 player alone to go into an alliance battle.... which can have quite a big knock-on effect....

HOWEVER, methinks the proof is in the pudding, so try it and see what happens...
:p

thanks m8,

hmmmm id rather not then :P
would be pointless with a pve build and henchies.....would get completely owned!! :D

i wonder if an SA alliance would ever own a town some day ?? hint...

although they update the control every 3 hrs....so chances are if we did gain control it would only be for 3 hrs....

what do you guys think of the firey flame spitter axe ??
can only be collected south of serentiy temple when your continent has favour......
its not a gold/green weapon either.....they seem to be making a fuss aobut it over on the photics forums....

cool,
Cheers Dan.

Thirsty River is a crap mission. It is probably the mission I have failed the most so far. I often helped guildies with this one and the team then often wipe a couple of times before they get it right, which adds up to a lot of failures for me, even when I did not need the mission myself.

I have GW and WoW.

I think WoW is better. More players. Bigger world. More items. The class and professions make for a much more customisable character on WoW than you can have in GW. You can have more characters on WoW. I think I have 6 on Twighlights Hammer and more on other servers. The end-game is also awesome.

Don't think I have run off too many cliffs. I mean. When you get to the edge of the cliff, you have the option of stopping. LOL.

WoW has also been available in SA for 2 months thro Take2.

There are lots of SA players on the EU servers. On Twighlights Hammer, my guild Dark Rage has over 100 players. There is also more than 1 SA guild on this server.

Still, GW is a cool game. I like the graphics. Seems to be sharper than WoW.

hmmmm....dont think anyone really wants to see another GW vs WoW post in here...... wont increase your popularity in this thread dude...

zippy dude WOW = what $12 every month... justify that!

I'm so pissed off. Last night I did a mission and my team members (including myself) all died. So I attempted it a second time and just as I was near the end, I got disconnected from the Guild Wars server (everything just freezes). I was so pissed off - it was like almost 2 hours of my time just wasted !!!

What mission were you busy with last night spacey?

PS. Big ups to Wargeeks for helping with Thirsty River, ended up a walk in the park.

ye, it's getting quite bad at the moment.
I had 2 007 errors last night.
One was in a town and another when I was almost done with a Kryta side-quest with my Assassin.
:(
