Guild Wars, questions...

I only ask these questions to find an indication of the levels of the players :D
Then up until a few of months ago, you'd have thought me to be a n00b too :D I did the entire game with Henchies and Guild mates now and then, I did this up until the Crystal Deserts when the henches started failing too often. Being so protected from build crazy folk, I didn't even know that such skillitism existed, let alone know what SS's, MM's and so on were. In fact, I still get thrown build terms that befuddle me. Simple solution to that though, minimise and google for trendy build #101 ;)

lol in tyria this only applied when doing a 5 man farm... but quests are easy in tyria so any build is more than sufficient :D

what I'm talking about is Factions... it's an unforgiving place and if you are to do the quests there with what we term n00bs then it'll take you a good 2-5 hours of play just trying to get past one mission :(

Quests may be easy, but I made a point of keeping those henchmen alive all through, which was no easy task :D

On Factions: I've gotten by in Factions so far by using idle banter before a mission. Thats a good way of determining player maturity. Getting into more mature parties, and especially humble players willing to listen, will easily help the team. If the mission fails, then everybody can have a good laugh and hand out some tips to people who were first to fall/messup/whatever then maybe try again (though this little slice of Utopia is hard to find ;)). I'm pretty sure everybody can learn something new everyday, given the vast amount of content in GW. Again, build terms/game theory mean nothing to me, its more the personalities.

PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME:(

This is the second time with the same problem.
I log on to gw and everything is fine until the point after I choose my char after that it says connecting but the bar doesn't move???

I'm using ISDN 128k, but if I use GPRS everything seems fine!

PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME

Have you tried to switch back to ISDN 64? GW does not need more than 64 in any case and that can maybe save you some money as well.

@ gkm

Yeah i did use 64k but it didn't help

This problem seems to clear up every time after 22:00
the same thing happened last week:confused:

You should head north asap to Kaineng Center to get better (aka the best) armor. There is a safe path that you can walk between the peasants most of the time and do not have to do much (or any) fighting. Everybody dies a lot in factions, but at level 15 you certainly have to be even more carefull.

Thanks for the tip! That would really help a lot!

I like your attitude. If only more people in Guild Wars where like this. Sigh....

As for my personal experiences. I started a Rit when I got Factions. I did all the missions and quests on Monastary Island and was level 18 when I crossed to the mainland. I managed to get to the first mission area (after a few gazillion deaths). For the mission I managed to found a good group. We played and completed the mission, but during the mission I died ALOT! And it really frustrated me. I could not for the life of me understand what I was doing wrong. And then it hit me! I checked my armor.....I still had the armor that I started with at AL 15. Such a n00b mistake. So, I started a new warrior and got all the collectors armor on Monastary Island, and I must say the game is a lot easier now at armor level 65. :D

SAIX had problems again last nite, which only cleared at 21:00.
Which affected all the major regions.
I was disconnected twice last nite again. Last time was closer to, or after, 11pm.

Yes, with AL 15 you will take more than double as much damage as at AL 60.

Here is a damage table from the Apathetic Aardvark Guild Wars FAQ/Walkthrough:

AL Damage %
--------------
0 283%
5 260%
20 200%
30 168%
40 141%
50 119%
60 100%
70 84%
75 77%
80 71%
85 64%
100 50%
110 42%
120 35%

Given how much spike damage one gets in factions, having that spike damage more than doubled will result in plenty instant deaths, I suspect.

Has anyone tried running for faction with an assasin primary ?
i'm looking at either A/wa or A/mo builds....on paper they have potential...so if you have succesfully run for faction with assasin lemme know...

Assassins arent very popular in factions right now, because they tend to die alot. This is because most people dont know how to play them correctly. Most people think that an assassin is a tank, while in fact they are more an "get in, do combo, get out" type of character. They can do high damage, but there armor is low for a melee class.

:( Seems as my inet is screwed so this weekend I've had no time to play any gw.

@fishfly, sorry to hear m8, sorry to hear. Me gots lotsa GW time this weekend.... :D

I am still of the opinion that Assassin's ROCK!!! I am THE dealer of PAIN :D
I am only playing with my A/Rt at the moment and last nite I completed (with full bonuses) the Gyala Hatchery (Luxon) mission on the 2nd attempt with a PUG. I res'd both Monks one after the other at one point, of course I died after this (sacrificing hp and all ;)) but if I hadn't I think we would have been pwned!!
The 1st attempt was just me with a MM and the rest henchies.
I started a party and got some people together.
Party ended up being 2 Ass, 2 Monks, Ele, Rt, 2 Warriors.

I have about 520K EXP on my Assassin. :p

ok......does anybody have an answer for me about the running.....

I am happy with my assasin regardless of unpopularity :)

i'm thinking of the following build....

A/me

Shadow Form (E)
Arcane echo
Dark Escape
Dash
Shadow Refuge
Illusion of Haste
Illusion of Weakness
Siphon Speed......
crits ?

Funnily enough, I was actually thinking the same thing, running with the Assassin. They have all the potential skills for it. Haven't tried it tho. :p
I would still use Monk as sec ... they have best skills for conditions and hexes.
Have you thought about using some shadow stepping to simply "teleport" to the closest enemy when they are in your path and simply activating the running skills from there? By 'stepping' you have already gotten halfway without being detected .... then it's just the last half you have to worry about... ;)

very true....

the main reason for using me second is for arcane echo......that way i can ue shadow twice back to back....and be invulnerable for 40secs :)

granted when it ends you loose all but 40 health...but if you time it properly you can heal away from mobs...

at least thats what im hoping....

but i like the stepping strat!....gonna rethink strat...
