Sorry BC this might not be what you want to hear...

Joystiq is reporting on a possible problem with the guitar in Guitar Hero II. There are two different types of guitars being shipped currently and the rumoured problem only occurs with the guitar that has the pedal jack next to the power cord.

Iit seems like the whammy bar may become unresponsive and all the guitars may be recalled. Remember this is only a rumour and has not been confirmed by anyone yet, it hasn’t been denied either though…

I am sure they will fix it before it gets here though.

Could you actually learn how to play the guitar using this game?

No I don't think so, the controllers don't have strings they have buttons... I guess it could help you with getting the beat and timing right though?

I never played the old ones but BC has got me hooked into it now so I can't wait to pick it up...

Hmm.. I'm still trying to decide how much of a knob I would feel like if I was jamming in front of the tv with a "toy" guitar... :D

Sounds fun though. ;)

No, but it does require good timing and co-ordinating left and right hands. You do have to use hammer ons and pull-offs as well as strumming up and down to manage the more difficult parts. It is definitely not easy.

I initially wasn't going to bother with this game, but it has turned out to be huge amounts of fun. And much harder than I expected. There are quite a few musicians who have reported playing the game and finding it really challenging, including guitarists trying to keep up with their own songs.

Well, both of my guitars have the same serial number as the faulty units, and one of mine has just stopped working for no reason at all =[

I downloaded the patch :/

Only found out about the red circle issues after I downloaded the patch.

Well, I got a call from megarom today. They're looking into the GH2 tech issue quite seriously, and seem willing to help out.

But, strangely, my guitar that stopped working is working again, so things don't seem so bad.

Hey there,

Do you think i should install the patch -- getting my game from kalahari tom.

I'd say that unless you're having problems with the whammy bar on your guitar, do not install the patch.
