The #GuptaLeaks have revealed that two more companies that won Transnet tenders paid tens of millions to Gupta offshore fronts.

Bank and accounting records show that two heavy equipment manufacturers – Swiss-based Liebherr-International AG and China’s Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Limited – funnelled nearly R100-million to the Guptas, as Transnet awarded them contracts to supply cranes to South African ports.

This brings to seven the number of large, mostly respected companies, known to have secretly paid Gupta fronts in connection with Transnet contracts.

Just keeps coming and coming.

This just shows that the whole world is one sick corrupted place, not that we didn't know this already..

Can the US go where the Hawks fear to tread?

The almighty dollar – A #GuptaLeaks game-changer?
Johannesburg - To date, the apparent efforts of the Hawks, South Africa's priority crime-combating unit, to investigate any of the voluminous allegations made against the Guptas have been minimal to non-existent.

- See the #GuptaLeaks Special Report

But the Guptas’ repeated use of US dollars to move their kickbacks around the globe, along with previously hidden ties to US companies, may render the Hawks' efforts (or lack thereof) irrelevant.

Under American anti-bribery and anti-money laundering laws, one link to the United States could expose all members of any broader conspiracy to the jurisdiction of American courts.

In addition to personal US criminal liability, ill-gotten gains are also at risk.

The US Department of Justice's Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative recently seized billions of dollars of assets – including bank accounts, real estate, art, jewelry, aircraft and yachts – located around the world.

The swiss government doesn't like scandals like this either...

Since it involves US companies, the US authorities will probably get involved soon enough (if they aren't quietly already)

They're taking so much of our money out they need cranes to lift it:whistle:

You know what pisses me off?

The global implications of this... .completely overshadowed by that orange jizzgobbler in the white house's shenanigans.

The only thing I can't stop thinking about is how the three Gupta brothers managed to come to South Africa and within a matter of 1-2 years take over the ANC, all their affiliates, as well as the whole South African government.

It is crazy to think that someone is sitting in a private home, appointing ministers to serve and protect them, running all government institutions, as well as SEO's and even arrange and approve contracts for government related work across the globe. Companies have no need to deal with the ANC or Government, a simple call to the Guptas and all is said and done. And, this is not thinking anymore, this is the reality.

Make it 20-25 years.

They arrived in 1993 when they established Sahara.

They met Zuma in 2001.

Anyone can buy the ANC, it's the cheapest political party because it's the one with the least morals. R100 probably get you a R1m tender, go just before lunch when then hunger kicks in.

They have been on the scene long before 2001. Back in 1995 they have already been in talk with the SAPS, and most government organizations, in supplying computers.

Never said otherwise. I just mentioned that they met Zuma in 2001.

You said they took the country in two years. It took them 20+ years and 16 years of knowing JZ.

Orange jizzgobbler.... the mental imagery is very disturbing but oh so accurate.

But I do think his shenanigans are probably more damaging to the world at large in the long term than jz783 and his Indian masters shenanigans
