As the title says. Think this is valid? No crosshair, 2 cars and 2 license plates in the picture. Before you say dont speed it wasnt me but my finace. Its only R100 but im itching to have a go at the courts as I also seem to have been getting parking on a yellow line in a township area (R300.00) and not paying parking meters (R200.00) in areas and times that are not possible. Aswell havent recieved a single slip to the affect only 2 months later with final notices.
Also seen with my own eyes traffic cops fining people without putting the slips on the windows. But thats besides the point, the point in question is the speeding one atm.

How can they prove whether the Toyota or the Corsa was doing 74?

Bollocks! Fight it!

errr... you will lose.

If the cars was side-by-side, then it wasn't easy to prove that.

Best to pay the R100 and have your sanity intact.

I've read that no cross hair means the fine is invalid, and you can't have another vehicle in the picture like that either. But I've never tried in court to find out

You could say Mr Policeman was targetting Winnie the Pooh rather than your car, so send the fine to him. Mr Pooh was doing 74km/h not my car.

whats the deal if there is something in front of the numberplate? like a bird flying past and you can't quite make out one of the numbers

Ive heard the same thing regarding a cross or crosshair over the numberplate. Does anyone know if it has to be there for the fine to be valid???

I believe the camera being used is the Micro Digicam more info from the suppliers -> http://www.transatlanticequipment.co.za/

While there is no cross the Opel is defnitely right in the middle of the image and clearly the one being tracked. Not having a cross means you can certainly challenge it in court, they could argue that the centre of the image corresponds to where the centre of the camera is.

There can be other cars in the background just like there can be trees or pedestrians in the background.

Most people don't challenge these fines. You might find they will send you a reduction after which you can challenge it again. Good luck. For a R100 fine you might as well just pay it though and tell the driver to be careful in future.

Try posting this on the speedcamera forums

They don't reduce less than R150 fines, also if you challenge the procedure (in court) by not paying admission of guilt fine (IE you plead not guilty) you can face possible jail time or a incredibly large fine, don't understand why but that is what I heard from someone I know who tried it.
