My better half is the addict; not me :)

Every single day he wants to go to the gym .... and he wants to drag me along on each of those days!

From a health and mental perspective, surely it is good to just have a rest day every now and again?
Or do a different form of excercise, e.g. walk in the neighbourhood, swim, etc.
Or just say: I'm gonna do NOTHING today, I deserve a break!

Some days I just don't want to gym!!! :D

Yes, rest is always good.

I'd hazard an educated guess that going to gym all the time is probably harmful rather than helpful to one's health.

Me? I could never do gym every day... 3 times a week is enough for me! :D (I hate getting all sweaty and stuff!)

Rest is very very important. And agreed, the same exercise over and over, whilst not especially bad, will not give maximum benefits.

If he is doing gym but mixing it up (IE running, rowing, weights, SQUASH!!!! etc) then its all good. I would still recommend a rest day.
If he positively must do something, then do hikes, walk the zoo etc

Depends on his routine. If it's heavy heavy weights, and a really hard work out, then he might been putting too much stress on his body and could eff up his joins. I've heard cases where people splinter their wrists because they haven't strengthened their wrists in preparation for the weights they lifting.

Also, when you gym, blood pressure might increase, then fall afterward, so the heart might need a break. Also, you need breaks from it so that your body can recover and start storing fats etc.

Just 'stay in bed' with him on Sundays, and get another work out ;).

I actually find I enjoy exercise after wknd morning sex.

gym is for guys who think bench pressing miraculously endows them with the ability to defend themselves. I have seen too many overpumped Gym bunnies eating humble pie at the hands of skinny, ripped fighters on Friday nights.

+1

Usually they're pumped-up with all kinds of chems as well which affects mood and aggression... and shrinks mr winky...

Alternating exercise is recommended - rather go for 5km jog / swimming etc every second day - and rest at least once a week...

statements like these are for guys who need to justify why they are too god damn lazy to get off their asses....its not all about figthing an juicing guys...some people like to achieve goal they set...its called SELF DISCIPLINE!! and some of us like to just look good...and not pudgy and round like we gonna roll down a hill!! so dont generalize!!!:wtf:

Wow. Life's really black and white, eh? You either klap gym hard or moer a oke hard, hey? So, normal people can't go to gym to stay fit and healthy?

mmmm....maybe he has met someone lol...whipping into shape

LOL, I don't think so!

In any event, since I also get a regular workout, if she exists, I will be in good shape to whip her ass :D

My thoughts too - just some other form of exercise outside the gym.

He does a lot of cardio, and some circuit work too.

Nope, he does not do any heavy weights. As I said, more cardio.

The easy test for addiction would be: Is he skipping doing something important to Gym

No, I have to give him credit for that - he fulfils his normal obligations and gym gets squeezed in somewhere during the hours that are left.

He should take at least a day per week off. 7/365 only works if its light exercising.

What qualifies as light? He does between 60 to 90 minutes of cardio and maybe 30 minutes of circuit.

I would say he would need a break at least once a week.
Possibly twice a week. As for the training regime, he definitely needs to mix it up.
