Gyms in Stellenbosch??

Hey, does anyone know of what gyms are in Stellenbosch? Going to be moving there so looking for gym facilities there. Only one i can find is the university one.
 
Perfect health, they have a climbing wall but no swimming pool. Next to Eikestad "mall" so basically in the middle of town.
 
Opposite the gholf course (Blaauwklippen Rd, near La Romantica, Paradyskloof side of Stellenbosch), gym called Taylors.
 
Do they have websites or something. Still need to figure out stellenbosch, so far i know where the R310, R44 and dorp street is that's it :p. Gonna check up on google maps so i can check out prices etc tomorrow evening.

ps. I dnt use the pool etc just weights, cardio(cycle, row, treadmill) equip and circuit stuff(those machines with weights) is what i am looking for

btw emailed taylors.. seems they a high tech gym(data controlled weights/cardio etc) so no supprise their prices were higher.. dunno where that mall is, will venture around today.

If all else fails will use the university one. btw that tip on the newspaper is a really good one, thanks :) - busy looking for a place here.
 
Perfect health is moving i think, no longer going to be next to the Eikestad Mall.

BTW krycor, the mall is in the centre of town, between the town hall and the big field of grass called "Die Braak"

Eikestadnuus is a must ja

I live in paradyskloof, been to that Taylor gym. Its very high tech, but if you dont mind tons of hot students (and a fair load of ugly, fat ones too) around you the university gym is cheaper and has everything you might need...

so far got tips on gym + women + event & happening guide via newspaper :)
what other advise can you guys give?

where is de bron shopping centre? I saw that field but now i at least i know what to call it, for me i thought that was the entry point of the town.. that and dorp street which looks nice. what do people do there on the week-end?

Which suburb in Stellenbosch are you living ?

Remember to watch out for the traffic cam coming from
Paradyskloof towards Die Boord Spar. 60kph

You will also learn to relax at these traffic lights.

DO look out for sheeples who turn into headless chickens
at the circles. :whistle:

Watch out for the leiwater slote in Dorpstraat at night, near
De Akker, which is one of the dorps oldest pubs and where
young and old locals (this is not a student bar) congregate.

Important: in STellenbosch village pedestrians have right of way,
always drive carefully and always stop at the pedestrian crossings,
Stellenbossers will expect you to stop every time.

The Engen garage at the robots of Blaauwklippen and Strandstreet, next
to La Romantica steakhouse has a very reliable 24hour Food Woollies.

On a Sunday you can buy wine at the Mooiplaas strawberry farmstall on the
mountainside driving from Stellenbosch towards Somerset.

Cars are broken into.

Theft through open home/flat windows are common - laptops and gadgets.
 
Nope, that brandwacht place 2.5km out of / closer to stellenbosch. Not living there, still looking for a place its hard to find one(for cheap.. its like people price places expecting it to be sublet). Hopefully i find a place soon though missed about 3 potential places this week. Apparently they sell like hot cakes on gumtree.

Gah.. theft. i'd have have never thought. :( Guess i have to get use to locking up car and not leaving things in there etc

Does anyone know what the fees are like at the University gym at the moment (the website has prices for 2007)?
Does anyone know of another gym in stellenbosch that has a swimming pool?
 
Last year it worked out to about R220 per month which isn't bad on a 6month contract. Annoying thing about the place is the lack of treadmill and gym is spaced out on 3 levels with their own old made equipment for some machines. Parking is a bit of an issue when they have rugby games or athletic meets. All in aLl it was ok for my needs until I got in the habit of skipping gym and working late hehe. Lots of fast talking afrkaans female students haha. There are no lockers at the gym which is a problem btw.

Virgin active will be launching this or next month so if u have med aid that will be worth it. Other gyms are just plain costly to be honest, average cost is > 400 bucks

Thanks. Where is the virgin gym situated? Do you know if it has a pool?

Dont think it has one, it's in the eikestad mall afaik. Taylors in Paradyskloof let you use the Hotel swimmingpool according to someone I know that does this.

Perfect health at the Van Der Stel sportground is building a pool atm, but construction has been standing still for some time now. Dont know what the holdup is. They have good facilities otherwise though.

There is also a gym in technopark now, in the octoplace building. Definately no pool though.
