Does anybody have any info regarding a gynea visit in this time. We have to travel through two towns to get to the town where our Gynea (NW Province with limited specialists) is and i'm a little bit worried about how we will be treated by police or army services while we travel. My wife is between 33-36 weeks pregnant and our last appointment is 09 April 2020 and according to the Gynea our son will come any time between then and 12 May 2020.

Any info will be appreciated.

Good luck! We have a similar issue but we are only 18 weeks pregnant and the hospital is a lot closer from the sounds of it.

Call them and ask?

Who the gynaecologist? Already called and got a letter to state that we have to do the visit. But my problem isn't the gynae, it is regarding the police/army and how they will see this?

As is expected in times like this I heard stories that they will/can detain you for seven days and test for Covid, but that is a story, but if I must call someone then would you suggest I call the police or who?

Can't see why they won't allow this, as it should be part of essential medical/health services.
I also see it as an essential service and we got a letter from the gynae and everything. My worry is only how we will be regarded by the government while we travel. I seriously doubt that all the police and army services has all the info how to treat every case but I guess I can only hope for the best.

If you go alone then it may raise some flags. If you go with your visibly pregnant wife, I doubt it will be an issue

Just tell them she is pregnant and you are on your way to the gyne. Surely they will be able to see she is pregnant? Get a "sick note" when you are at the gyne, in case they pull you over whilst driving back. you have the proof then

Ja, my bierpens is way too small to qualify. I got spooked when someone said they could detain you and keep you for some time while test are being done. I can only hope that everything will go smoothly.

I was hoping some mybb member here were maybe in the same boat and could share some info.

Maternity issues is a no brainer. Move around as you wish.
Problem is finding a gynae working - and that's on you to find out.
Luckily they said the accommodate pregnancy's like ours where we are near the end, they said they can shift us around maybe but will see us. Like I said my only concern is the travelling.

We are in the same boat, next week we have an appointment. less than 5 weeks to go to delivery.

My wife luckily went for the 18 week scan today (snap @Neuk_ ).

Unfortunately I was not allowed to go with due to the hospitals rules around COVID 19.

Well there's no way we can predict what SANDF and SAPS will get up to in their Nyalas. But what seems certain is that they'll be so busy chasing down alcohol, overloaded taxis, trucks full of migrants, etc. that the chance that they have the time or capacity to arrest a pregnant woman on an unauthorised trip is pretty minimal.

Take cash just in case though maybe.

Unfortunately my girlfriend has been classed as high risk due to a subchorionic hematoma that she has been battling with since around 12 1/2 weeks. She has been housebound since then, is not allowed to move much and is not allowed to drive so even though I may not be able to go in to the hospital I have to take her there. We luckily have a wheel chair that I will have in the boot of my car.
