coz... just think... the ps2 was on for about 6 years and so on... a console should last for quite a while so that it does actually work out cheaper then a pc
 
Scotty - the average lifespan of a console is 5-6 years, and consider the 360 came out in 2005, that gives it 5-6 years. Anyway, it's still just theory now. By "working on it" they mean "Sat in a bar and played what if's"

Having said that, how many people only bought PS2's in the last years?

No console other than the Wii is cheaper than PC. yOu can get a PC for R2,200 or one for R20K. But your console is always the same 3.7K and R6.5K before the HD screen which is at least R6K.

I have more faith in the HD-DVD format but there isn't as much of a drive (atleast not here) for that format. If MS-SA could come in and sell the HD-DVD drive and a premium system for under R6k I'd they'd have a winning combination.

Take 360 and PS3 look at the prices...

PS3 - R6500+-

360 - R3000+-

to benefit from next gen features you need a HD TV, o wait that's another
what +-R9000

Ooooh and +-R500 - R600 a game... (That's about 3PC games)

A good PC is anywhere between R7000 - R9000 for the PC...
All our upgrades can be done with the money we save on our games.

2) Consoles very limited...

You can't do nearly as much as we can on our PC's


Bottom line... Consoles suck..... :rolleyes:

I think it's too late for HD. There are already a lot of shops in the US who's going to stop stocking HD titles at the end of the year. I'm sure other countries are going to follow. Also not a lot of HD support from the big movie companies.

I really don't get the logic behind that. You don't need a HD tv for the consoles, why are you adding that to the price? Then you might as well say, to get a better gaming experience from your pc, you need a 24inch lcd. That pushes up the price for the pc with a few thousand.

The last time I checked, pc games was about R300 each? How do you get 3 pc games out of R500 - R600?

I've got a sneaky feeling that Blu-Ray will come out on top in the end. We'll have to wait and see but if M$ were to suddenly drop their HD-DVD add-on then we'd know. I did read somewhere that Blu-Ray DVDs were selling more than HD-DVD. Attributed to people buying the PS3 obviously.

HD-DVD and Blu-Ray content are already available in the States and Canada and have been out roughly at the same time. If we're not seeing HD-DVD content yet then I wonder if we will.
