Hacked then Banned

Ouch - what a *****ty wow weekend.

Spend friday morning doing my daylies before going away for the weekend.

Got back monday evening, my account hacked, 9k gold gone, items gone, proffs untrained. Reported it to a GM and was told they will investigate.

Got home yesterday after work - account banned, i dunno why (still had my old e-mail adres) - so i mailed them and after 24hours, still no answer.

This suck
 
My US account got hacked over the weekend as well. But I have no game time left on it so unless the hacker loaded some game time I doubt my items went missing :)

Mailed them as well with no response (except the auto responder)

I'd genuinely consider phoning them instead. Happened to a friend of mine and he got fed up with the wait and their sloppy answers and eventually quit entirely
 
dont see a number to phone - just the mail option, so i will w8 and c what is going on
 
Sorry to hear thiartc. Unfortunately, Blizz does not restore any gold, enchants or gems so be prepared for that loss :(
 
i dont care for that - i just want to know why they banned my account - will just have to w8 for their reply :-(

Don't worry, its a precautionary measure they take once you have informed the GM that your account has been compromised,no one has access to it until they have traced, rectified and reimbursed your items.

Blizzard seems quite good at their customer services, same thing happened to my bro and it took 3-4 days and he got everything back to normal.

The gold I'm not sure about,Everything can be traced but if he has spent that gold already with various sources then it might be a problem.

Just be patient ;)

A friend of mine had a similar experience. His account was hacked over a weekend, and while the hacker had control he used it to exploit certain bugs etc. Even though the guy could prove his account was hacked his entire account was still banned due to exploiting. He never got it back.

My gf recently had her account hacked while I was online. I managed to recover the password before they did any serious damage, she only lost 5k gold and some bank items, and she had access to her account the entire time blizzard was in the process of "re-imbursing" those items.

So I hope you get lucky and your account is returned to you.

Thats actually really good to hear.

I've yet to run into any issues that require their assistance but it's bound to happen eventually.
 
all access to my account is now gone - i was able to check my status on the web - through manage my account - but cant anymore.

How do i contact them by phone - on the help page it says if you are calling from the uk ext ext, us this number and they give a 09 number, does anyone know/have the number we in sa should use to contact them.
 
6 - 8 weeks for them to sort out my account - the dude on the phone told me
 
6 weeks later the investigations are complete.

Got a mail stating my acc was unlocked and i could play again. I should also contact a GM online and they would refund gold and items lost.

I had just over 2.5k of gold before the acc was hacked. I noticed 1.5k gold missing but no items where stolen. On the day i reported the hack i sold loads of items and also moved 700g to anther acc.

Yesterday, blizz gave me all those gold i sold back, and they also refunded me the 2.5k gold, not only the 1.5k. I scored 1k gold and 17 greens and 2 blues. I felt guilty and thouhgt i should tell them this, but 6 weeks for a response, i think i deserve some of that extra items and gold

You sold your own gold? hacked your own account in other words?

Glad you got your stuff back though, and take care not to be hacked again! Yea you deserve the items and the gold they gave you, and hope they have reimburse your time as well?
 
Sorry i meant, all the items i sold i got back. I thought they would check the time, when i contacted the gm and noticed all that got sold and transferred after that time was my doing, cleary they think it was the hacker.

Nope, the account close time is for my own acc, i actually only lost 2 weeks, cause my subs expired only 2 weeks into the review.
 
A friend of mine also got hacked last week...GM told him there is nothing they can do about it...so he started a new account :(

I think its pretty pathetic of them and they need to do something about the security...
 
You have a username and a password. What more do you want?
If you think about it, it's exactly the same as a Windows Domain.
It's not WoW or any sub program of WoW thats to blame for account hacking.
It's the owner of the account's machine or his browsing habits which are entirely out of Blizzards hands.
Blizz have at least tried to do something with their Launcher blocking some trojans but they can't be held responsible for something that isn't their fault.

How many of you use the feature that says "Remember Username" ?

Even if you have a keylogger, they can't get in as you never typed ur Username ;)

Small things people, small things :D
 
That GM talked *****, if you have the original cd-key and a ID doc they will help you get the acc back, its takes time but it can be done.

What would you guys suggest i use to scan my pc for loggers, I use stopzilla, it seems to work fine for stuff like keyloggers. I installed it after i got hacked and it picked-up the logger and deleted it.

I used the google pack.

Just search "Google pack"
