Most people don't realise that there are good hackers [white hats] and there are bad """hackers""" [dark hats, crackers, etc]. The good hackers usually have altruistic motives in that they want security problems [aka serious bugs] to be fixed, and they do not extort money out of people or companies.

The badies are the ones that will exploit a security problem to an unethical and usually illegal end.

You get the good crackers as well. They notify the software companies and assist in improving the security
