Hackers break Amazon's Kindle DRM

Dare I say this is a good thing? I have a Kindle but there are no gaurantees that the books I've bought will be readable in 4 years when there's a new eReader on the block. I would very much like to keep my books!

Actually the Mobi DRM has been cracked for the last year or so. All they did now was to find a method to get the Kindle PID for Kindle4PC, so now non-kindle owners can buy from Amazon, liberate the file and then use on a reader of their choice. The Topaz format Amazon uses on some books still remain to be cracked.

All Amazon should to is not allow Kindle for PC without an actual Kindle...

That's like Sony releasing a PS3 emulator for the PC, or even a PS2 one.

People would buy it and buy PS2 games to use on it. However, their corporate greed prevents that. Same happens here, no doubt.
