Hackintosh?

I revived my previous Hackintosh attempt, but for some reason network card's where not picked up, so fired up MultiBeast and chose one of the network drivers listed there, Now hackintosh wont boot up anymore?

Thinking a kext it installed was not compatible?

tried booting with -x but doesnt enter safe mode?

This is why thinking people do not use TonyMac cr@pware! Multibeast LOL! Correct name would be MutilationBeast. For some odd reason, people believe that MultiBeast is the magical solution to all problems.

Apologies, I have to rant! Do not endorse anything from TonyMac. Between himself - Tony and MacMan, they have created this ad and referral program 'empire' to make $$$ off of the work of opensource developers. Multibeast is in fact MyHack which was stolen and re-branded. All third party / modified kext solutions were taken from various other sources and all tossed into the abomination called MutliBeast. Their DSDT database was stolen from RampageDev and all DSDT's were rebranded giving credit to MacMan who did nothing but insert his name and upload them. Chimera is nothing but Chameleon rebranded with cute little pac-man characters as a theme. I could go on... I despise people who leach from opensource developers for their own financial gain! It's just not Cricket... Rant over!

Why I will stay away from open source dev. Everyone except the dev makes money, but its a "noble" thing, blah blah blah.

I dont mind TonyMac making money, there dod a great job bringing it all together in one place, that takes time and money anyway. I remember back in the day how u had to hunt and hint the forums, read pages and pages hoping someone posted a link to a kext, now its easy all on one site. maybe them claiming was wrong but that od what open source allows. You can take Linux, add a few small things, rebrand anc sell - We all cant live on love and fresh air.

What's the anc doing in a hackintosh thread?:D

Installed Mountain Lion on Acer Extensa 5620, got everything working even screen quality, everything except wireless and LAN.
Broadcom I think in these laptops.

No! Distro's are for the lazy and incompetent. So is the TonyMac tick-click and install crapware. Hackintoshing these days with nothing but the original OS from Apple, Chameleon bootloader and fakesmc is all you need on the newer UEFI based motherboards. Why use a distro? Hackintoshes are so easy these days, you can have one up and running in under half an hour.

Does it still require 4gb or less ram during the install process?

No. I installed ML on a PC we have at home which has 16gb RAM and no problems. That was only an issue in SL and anything before.

Don't bother. Been there, done that - it doesn't work as it should.

Just buy a frekkin PC with Windows and get over it.

If you want OSX then get a proper Mac.

True it can be frustrating to get everything to work but I have managed before, so it's more a pet project at the moment.

I've done it before and everything worked just fine.

Yesterday I had the ATi 2400 XT working perfectly, screen looked good, then I bricked the hackintosh installing an incorrect network driver for wifi to work, now I have everything working except ATi 2400 XT and for the life of me cant remember how I got it working.

Got it working.

I give's the grey matter a bit of a workout if you have the time.

Actually, it does work 100% if you choose the correct components. It's simply choosing chipsets that Apple support throughout their range. There is actually no difference whatsoever, other than most desktops run circles around i-macs since they can be configured with better & faster hardware without having to worry about over-heating. With UEFI boards, all you need are 2 extra kexts that are not native to OS X - fakesmc to get around the onboard smc that only Apple motherboards have & a modified applehda kext for sound. The rest is a piece of cake.

Not sure what you did...? I work on i-Macs all day at work and have a MacPro at home, so I think I would notice if there was anything which , as you say, 'does not work as it should'. There is no reason it should not work since Macs these days use very common 'PC' chipsets. If it does not work 100%, you are doing it wrong. Apple choose the chipsets they wish to support, so if you are wanting to build a hackintosh, does it not make sense to follow Apple's lead? If you cannot do that, then you have no place saying 'been there, done that, it does not work as it should:(

Hi

I found a guide for installing snow leopard onto an acer aspire netbook zg5.
I decided to give it a try. Got a dmg from the net. But since I don't have a Mac , I can't create the boot disk. Tried several different tools like transmac and couldn't get it right.

Then I decided to install snow leopard into virtualbox. No success.

Anyone out there want to help me create a boot disk using a win7 machine?

i doubt there are so many people running hackintoshes that feel that it is not worth it.

anyway for me it is just another challenge. another os added to what i am running. i like the "challenge".

i'm pretty sure i'll continue to use debian in any event.

From linux you can use AcetoneISO, dmg2img. From osx you can use hdiutil .
