Hackintosh?

Just finished installing Mountain Lion on my Asus P7H55M-Pro motherboard based PC. Everything works: iMessage, iCloud, the Mac App Store etc. Haven't got around to to testing sleep mode yet. Only install issue was the screen going black just before the install screen. I typed in "PCIRootUID=0 GraphicEnabler=Yes" at the boot loader and it installed fine after that. Seems as if the latest version of UniBeast is already better then the first version.
Oh man I'm tempted...

Will I need access to a Mac at any stage or is everything covered with the tools on Tonymac?

tonymac only support use of the Mountain Lion Installer app bought from the Mac App Store and used in conjunction with UniBeast and then MultiBeast. They don't allow discussions involving other installation methods. This means that you will need a Mac or hackintosh that you can use to create a UniBeast based Mountain Lion USB installer.

Needless to say, you can "acquire" the Mountain Lion app by whatever means you wish, not a dmg version but the app version and use a friends mac or hackintosh to create a USB installer with UniBeast. If you get stuck, PM me and i'll let you use my MacBook to make one.

Appreciate. I have a colleague with a iMac at work. I'll ask him to help me out.
I was thinking of buying a new OSX disk from the iStore. I'll still need to turn it into a USB installer - right? No hybrid USB UniBeast + Mac DVD install option?

They won't sell you a Mountain Lion disk. Only Snow Leopard, if you can find it. Mountain Lion is only available as a digital download via the Mac App Store. There is no hybrid option. Check your PM's. I have an idea...

Hackintosh FTW..

I'm dual booting into Lion on my gaming rig.. lolz,

Just for kicks it started off as but I use it often. Needs more moola to upgrade my Macbook Pro but I haven't been that concerned with it since my Hackintosh is smooth as butter..

How do we create the install usb without access to a mac?
Was thinking of downloading the Mountain Lion USB install version from torrent to try out.
Would it just be a case of copying the file over to a 8gb usb drive and rebooting?

No. The drive must first be formatted to Mac OS Extended (HFS+) before the file is imaged to it. You cannot just copy it across because it won't be bootable. I've never tried one those custom made USB Mountain Lion installers yet so it is possible that it can automatically format and image the drive correctly.

The method I used is to get Mountain Lion from the app store, use my Mac or hackintosh to format the drive to HFS+, open UniBeast and then follow the prompts and it created a USB installer. I then copied MultiBeast onto the USB drive, for installing the boot loader, graphics enabler, extra drivers etc. Once you boot to the install screen, follow the instructions, reboot, boot this time from the installed hard drive, follow the prompts to create a user account, open MultiBeast and install the default options and reboot without using the USB installer. If it gets to the desktop, you're lucky: that means the bootloader and graphics enabler etc worked correctly. Then check for missing ethernet, wifi, sound drivers etc and install them with MultiBeast as needed. Post questions here or on TonyMac if you need additional help.

If that is the case then you should be able to format it from a linux livecd. Just boot the livecd and install hfsprogs and then run gparted (included on most livecds).

OK. All installed well except no network, trying to get awl file to install but it is not picking up any usb ports.

Only items showing under applications/Utilities/Disk Utility are the DVD-Rom and HDD?

OK got network up and running with kext, now cant sign in to App store with my login, tells me "connection Failed"

Actuall I had that problem too, heard it was because you need Ethernet, I'm connecting via wifi

Another thing that I have yet to figure out is I have two monitors connected to my motherboard, onboard graphics, under display it only shows one monitor, both are showing the main desktop.

I want to extend the main desktop onto the second monitor?

Tried Ethernet and 3G but just the app store and imessage.

Weird thing I just tried my wifes apple ID and got in?

Wonder what's wrong with my apple id?

What graphics card are you using? Is full graphics acceleration working? I can have dual displays with my card.

Intel board DQ45CB, no dedicated card.

trying to get UniBeast installed but it tells me Mountain Lion Application missing, you need your purchased Install of OS x Mountain Lion.app in the application folder before you can install.

I only have Mountain Lion.raw file

EDIT: My bad thought unibeast was something else
