Hackintosh

I must admit, getting OSX to work nicely on a PC is a nightmare. However since I started using OX my on my MBP, I just fell in love with it. Linux Desktop has improved by miles from where it started, but it has nothing on OSX, even Windows does desktop better than Linux.

That said, I went through the ordeal of getting OSX running on my desktop at home, not going to buy an iMac, I don't like how they look or work in hardware. It mostly works, but it still hangs for a reason I haven't figured out, and havent even tried to get the sound working on it.

Also installed it on a 2nd pc at work, there it works great, no hangs and even the sound works. But it is a very different motherboard. And it works great on that specific machine.

So if you know OSX, its worth while getting it to work on a pc, but its not a good idea if you want to see if OSX is worth it, in which case its far better to start on an original mac.

Years ago I installed snow leopard on my pc, was a gigabyte mb & everything worked out of the box, think I only needed sound drivers. OSX to me feels sluggish & it's also very restrictive. I've also used it on a real mac & it's not for me. The one thing I do like is that it is unix underneath the skin & opening a terminal feels comfortable.

Definitely, to each their own. I have to work with Linux servers on a daily basis, and a terminal is where I feel at home as you say. Unfortunately I also need to get work done in a office environment where everyone else uses Windows, and Windows slows me down. OSX sits 100% inbetween, can get my server sysadmin done on the terminal, as well as all the other office stuff as well. While the office stuff do work on Linux, its a pain for me most of the time. So basically, found the middleground where I get work done.
