A handy infographic for you, you libertarian communist slughorn:

Yeah look I get where you are coming from as a developer.
But as a consumer I feel a trial/demo should be mandatory OR an easier refund system should be available to consumers.
Like someone else said above I've "chanced" a number of Apps because they had no trial/demo and got shafted for doing so. Then I simply let it slide because a refund is a massive pain in the ass.
It devalues the software. It's theft
Elaborate on the devaluing part please?
Lets use cars as an analogy.
You want a Ferrari, but you can't afford one or are just too cheap.
So what you do is get a molecular assembler, and make an exact copy.
This has the effect of devaluing the Ferrari, as now poor people have Ferrari's. And Ferrari expressly do not want that.
You might not like it, but it is THEIR f***ing company and THEIR f***ing car, not yours.
So what you're saying is, you'd rather have the poor people suffer for your own enrichment?
Yes.
It is my company. If I don't want poor people to be able to afford my product, then that is up to me.
Says a lot about you as a person.
If I had a "molecular assembler", I would give cars to poor people. Give them the software they need. Give them the education they need. That's the only way we'll improve the state of the world.
Good for you. But this is still a free country, and that choice is up to each person.
You want to give away or devalue your own work, then do so.
But don't take my work and devalue it. That is the work of a thief
You're fighting a losing battle with your "I'll charge what I want for it" mentality. Either people will pirate it, or a free version will be made available.
You can rant and rave on message boards, but honestly, a huge number of people couldn't give a **** what you think about your overpriced software. And they care even less about being called "thieves" by the way.
It's never been cracked since we specifically considered this and built our license system to be hard to break.
Or lack of interest. I'm sure MS/Adobe/etc built their licence systems to be hard to crack as well. If you get a good cracker interested, I'm sure he'll break it.
Sure. We're not Adobe or Microsoft. Probably wouldn't be hanging out here then ...
I used to reverse engineer virusses and copy protection when I was young. Make it difficult enough and most will give up. There's a point where it's not fun anymore. Unless it's a high profile target and you're trying to prove something.
Out if interest, how much does your app cost @JStrike?
Mind to share what app it is?
My iPad 2 is jail broken and I test an app before I buy it. As someone mentioned earlier, you are not really going try to dispute a 0.99$ transaction now are you? Yes, you will just let it slide.
Companies should offer trials. Releasing a trial also tells me the company behind the app is confident in what they are selling.

He will not say as because some person out there is going to know its South Africa based or some crap like that.
I like Windows version of trail system, even when people found ways to make the trail more permanent. Also I own way to many crap apps than I would like to admit all because of already mentioned price and return issues. Guess a lot of people make a living on those bloody impulse buy's.
