Hello all

So since lockdown started i been cutting my hair zero all the time

now i bought a machine before but its broken a little and want to invest in something different now

I see so many different wahl devices but whats the difference other than prices.

Im looking at getting this

some are wireless as well which would be better but then you have to worry after a while the battery is dead

what do you use ?

Instead of shaving my head I use this with no guard (No. 0). One of the best hair clippers out there and it will last you decades if you oil it and don't drop it too often. This is the same one that most barbers use.

I bought the Whal Homepro, back in 2015 for R120. I only use the No.1 comb between once or twice a month. Still going strong.

Haircuts at my local barber went up to R100, back then, to cut my ailing head of hair. So I recon my R120 buy saved me about R1200 per year, or R6000 over the last 5 years.

If I had to buy another wahl this is what I would get.
Edit: Ive owned a few wahls over the years, always drop them then the blades brake or get misaligned, since they are so heavy.

But Ive been using the philips cordless for a few years now as I prefer to cut my hair in the shower. Dont think I will go back to a corded machine.

Had a trusty old Phillips that did the job

Bought an effing heavy Wahl

Went back to the Phillips

This below. There's a reason why it's the most stolen appliance in Clicks. Lasts forever if you look after it with minimal maintenance.

No other Wahl will do, tried 'em all.

I use one of these...
Had a couple of corded Wahls over the years but i found these to be sharper somehow. Wahl used to get stuck in thick hair. These just glide through. And decent battery life as well...
This. Have mine since about 2016 already. Works great. No need to oil the blades and only one hair attachment as well.

My Wahl lithium cordless is fantastic. Battery seldom needs charging... Surprising for a mechanical device. Very portable too. Has a few comb attachments and a few interchangeable blades for small detail to wider.

My "go to" machines are:

Philips Pro Clipper Series 5000 (https://www.philips.co.za/c-m-pe/hair-clippers)
Bought it a few years ago from Makro for about R500 when it launched and still going strong. Very quiet and use it every two weeks. It came with a spare set of blades that I still haven't used.

Wahl Lithium Ion Rechargeable Trimmer (https://sa.wahl.com/Products/Home-Grooming/Lithium-Ion.aspx)
For tidying up around the edges weekly. Had this before the Philips and the battery still lasts for weeks.
Still want to get another scissor, but was looking for a brush to dust off the loose hair so ended up buying a large make-up brush from The Body Shop which serves the purpose:giggle:

Build your own,

I use a Wahl HomePro, tried and tested. No issue with their products. My grooming kit is a Philips, but I can't remember the model number as I am sitting here.
Damn, you beat me to it, just came in there to post that :D

This one.

Incredibly good value and 1/3rd the price of the Wahl piece of crap I had before it that didn’t have half the attachments.

****

And I’m usually all about brand and getting what you pay for.

Risked it on this with the intention to simply return it if it sucks and it’s surpassed all expectations.
Thanks for this. Grabbed it to use as a backup for my Philips and it's surprisingly very sturdy and of high quality. Even the attachments.
