Hall of Reflection (HC)

This is a tough one indeed. But how do you get the group to actually listen? :p AOE AOE AOE AOE. Makes my tits sagg. :(

I wont lie. I've done HoR on my Holy Paladin. And trust me, healing that much aoe with a single target healer, isn't fun.

Tanked it on my DK last night, completed. Average DPS was around 3K, which isn't even that great. Lesson learned? This is doable, but everyone has to be at least semi well geared and awake. If you drag even one undergeared, underperforming dps along, you won't make it.

I can also say that I've been enjoying the new instances, I have now succesfully healed all 3 5 mans on HC, at times it very tough on the nerves but that's what makes it fun! Personally changing my gear a bit also helped, when I first did HoR I found that mana was was major issue, now I have learned how to manage that :P

Instance is a boring zerg fest as always. Just hide behind the wall as a tank, adds run behind wall, mash AoE button, ensure priest dies first and go afk.

Why do you even play this game if you hate it so much?

Don't hate the game just saying people are really blowing this instance out of proportion. It's not hard at all, requires no CC if you have a decent tank and a competent healer and the DPS requirements aren't high either.

iow, if you outgear it and know how2play, it's easy.

This just in, water is wet, sky is blue.

It's a 5-man, you should know that is not the case 70% of the time. Because if the people were too good, they wouldn't be pugging, let alone doing a 5-man.

Done it several times and the easiest HoR was the one that we decided to double-tank after failing twice.

This is a control fight - not a dps fight.

I've now tanked this a number of times in pugs. Every time we've succeeded, it's after wiping a few times with dps trying to lolAoE everything down. After explaining kill orders and marking stuff to burn down sequentially, it proceeds to go smoothly. People who pug arent necessarily dumb, they just need leadership, and in pugs no-ones really willing to take the lead.

You're a DK correct?

After running HoR at least 35 times since 3.3 hit, its definitely easier having a DK/Pally tank, who have a lot more control over the situation. Although its fun when a warrior tanks... we actually use CC again

I've also found that groups who tank the waves in the side LOS corners tend to fail more than groups that tank the waves at the entrance :wtf:

Yeah, Frost DK. Blood is fale. Nice for raids but pug tanking, no. You NEED Howling Blast like a fish NEEDS water. At least Prot warrs get Shockwave and cleave and stuff baseline, and paladins have all kinds of aoe threat built in. DK's have to spec specifically for either aoe tanking, or main tanking. It's kind of a raw deal, really. All other tanks have both built into one tree.
Coupled with the lower stam/hp on average, no block meaning spikier damage, and the annoying rune system that you have to constantly play around, and tanking as a DK starts becoming a chore rather quickly. No wonder there arent many of them around.

do not do this with a warr tank!!! normally wipefest.

Qft. Even the very best warriors I've every met have problems in this instance. A lot of it though boils down to people dps'ing everything except the tank target.

Please, please, PLEASE can those masochistic souls among us who play DK tanks have an AOE taunt that's not bound to runes, that isn't DnD? Because sure as snowballs melt in the sun, the nugget DPS DK in the group is spamming that left & right which tends to overpower yours assuming it's available & not on 8 sec CD because you've just dropped a heart strike on the boss or something, & if you have to gather more than two mobs to you in a hurry, you have problems.

Keeps things interesting to be sure, but my stress levels tend to spike when I'm multi-mob tanking on the DK :p

I don't see how warriors have a problem with this. I am currently leveling one, and this happens to me all the time. If I don't assign marks, and even when I do, every dps still chooses his or her favorite target and dps just that. I have come to the conclusion that my mouse over devastate macro is a must have so that I spam that while moving my mouse over targets whilst still using my only 2 aoe attacks and throwing in cleaves inbetween. The DPS never die like that, I just have to work harder than when I tank on my paladin.

I actually don't have the answer for this too but can only summise. I have a 64 warrior. There seems to be a delay of some sort to when a warrior can gain aggro over multiple mobs vs a pala. Groups I've been with (5 mans), a pala seems to gain aggro over muliples a lot quicker, a warrior seems to need at least 10 to 15 seconds longer to generate the same amount of hate on multiples. I'm levelling a pala atm so will be able to put my finger on it.

I am also playing a warrior now, the most annoying part for me is when the stupid shaman or druid or even mage does that knock back spell causing your shock wave to miss most of the mobs! It really really annoys the crap out of me.

But I agree pala aoe > warrior aoe. warrior tanking fun > pala tanking fun.

@Bachuss. It's nice to get some recog. Yeah, most people will complain about DK tanks being this and that without knowing just how much bloody micromanagement this class requires. Two resources - runic power and 3 different kinds of runes - to manage, cooldowns, procs (Rime&Killing ?Machine). All other tanks have one resource - rage or mana - to worry about. Every bad situation requires simplky this : Do I have enough rage/mana, and is the ability I need now available off cooldown? Playing a DK is like juggling a dozen different cooldowns constantly.
Imo, Vampiric Blood/Unbreakable Armour/Bone Armour should cost runic power instead of a rune, Rune Strike shouldn't need to proc off a parry (it already devours RP) and d&d should cost no runes or even RP either, and simply be on cooldown. And ofc we need our stam/hp buffed back up to the point it matches other tanks.
