Holy mother of Mary

Ok I'll be the first to start this thread since it seems no one is willing to start a thread on how bloody hard that heroic is :D Don't get me wrong I'm loving the fact that there is a hard heroic for a change :p

I have only completed it on normal which was pretty hard maybe on par with pre 3.3 heroics. But heroic is like SWP type shyt. I have not been able to complete it on heroic in a PUG as yet. How do you guys find HoR hc?

Did HoR HC on monday. Wiped once because our pally dps over aggroed but after that it was smooth sailing. I think HoR will become one of my favourites, its intense and literally had me on the edge of my chair. I think the build up to HoR is that mini gauntlet in PoS, which is also quite fun, once you know what to do.

Just spammed the chain heal and riptides and kept earth shield up on tank, popped tremor totem when I had to.

I do think tho if you have under geared guys in your pug group you might struggle. Try get a guild group to go HoR HC first and see how you go :)

do not do this with a warr tank!!! normally wipefest.

With a pally tank its pretty easy aoe tanking ftw, and just spam rejuv on everyone to keep them alive

done it with a warrior tanking with no problem. It is a hard instance on hc. I dont pug hc anyway. do guild runs only.

Maybe your team just needs to learn how to group with the various tank classes. Taking a sip of beer as the tank runs in has always been the first spell I cast with my lock :D Often, the mage is dead, then I start to deepeeess :D

HoR is super hard, but it's lots more fun like that. And seeing that the gear that drops is ToC 10man level (ilvl232) it should be harder than a normal heroic.

I love the new instances :D

I haven't wiped there yet. Just make sure you group stands way back so that your tank has time to pick up aggro when the mobs spawn. Also use your CC, I am a priest so perhaps shackle helps alot. Oh we also had a ret pally so he was fearing/repentancing. Just use all the CC you have. You can drink easily between waves and the bosses aren't anything special.

We had a warrior as a tank, and I don't have any pve gear was using full pvp relentless gear but still didn't have any problems with healing or mana.

yeah its fine if the warr is not a noob, the warr i had could not aoe tank to save his life, me and the ret pally was tamking most of the time, still made it was just a pit painfull.

This heroic is only hard because there is so much crap dps out there. Oneshotted it last night thanks to some very strong dps, LK was still miles off when the last wall came down. You don't even need a good tank, as long as the tank is keeping threat on the mercs/footmen in the first part, and aboms in the escape, dps can handle the rest. Protip, you have interrupts: use them. No, failbot afk-aoe dps like you've been doing in HC's the past year+ is not going to let you coast through this one. You'll actually, *gasp*, have to put as much effort in as the tank and healer.

It's actually quite illuminating just how often poor dps is the thing holding everyone back. We like to blame tanks and healers, but this is one fight where it's all about not suckfailing at pewpew.

Im a warrior tank, and the few wipes we had wasnt due to lack of not being able to tank. If your dps are a bunch of no brain pew pew's that dont think further than being worried about who's on top of the dps list, you're in for a wipefest for certain. And tanking a pug is always a mission, but good practice.

I agree with Skurm. Dps needs to be decent and people need to know how to interrupt. Can have the best tank in the world, if you dont interrupt or stun those casters, youre in for a tough fight. I feel sorry for healers in this one.

Hate picking as a tank in this with our lag fest, and the first boss healing as a priest is rather painful :P

That's prolly the reason why I haven't tried :p I hate it how it's always the healer's fault even though I'm freakin bashing buttons like a mad man to keep everyone alive

it's always the healer's fault
Well, bads will say that. Goods will interrupt the mage's flamestrikes and priest's heals, or at least not stand in the f.s. Don't let it bother you. Bad players will always try pin the blame on others, especially bad dps.

I normally tell the dps when I start if they pull threat I will let them die, if they stand in the fire I will let them die, then I follow through :P

Just the last few times I have done this instance, I have been either stunned from his debuff or running in fear, impossible to heal with that happening

Rather tempted to say something...but I think for the sake of my reputation, I will refrain

I've gotten spoiled healing on a druid. I've not healed on my priest in a long time, and now that I've started running her through the new instances I find myself sweating bullets and yelling "Where the hell are my frakking instant casts?!?!"

I'm probably just still way out of practice, but I'm finding priest healing edge of the seat stuff now, whereas I still end up browsing bash.org or something on the second monitor when I'm healing on my druid.

Its a hard HC that is for sure but here are some pro tips

on the sides where the *bosses* stand u can go behind them and hide in the corners too get LoS.

This way ranged mobs are forced too run too you. What I do as a warrior tank is have ranged dps and healers stand LoS and i stand in the open. Use bloodrage and they agro me.*using any tipe of buff or hot ticks pulls agro* So dont do **** until the tank has starting agro.

If the hunter is not moving have a rogue or warrior disarm it. Silence/Interupt casters and nuke the priest down 1st then the rogue tipe mobs since they tend too stun tanks and healers and that is bad. Using disarm and such is rather usefull.

After we figured out we can LoS the mobs it was easy. The running from the Lich King part it is good too use imba cooldowns on the 2nd wave of mobs on the last ice block too get mobs down. DKs using army and such helps a crap load here.

This one actually needs some work and consentration :)

Oh and yes if dps are slacking this will be very hard too get down. Focus dps on the tanks target helps a load. AoE is not very usefull here.

I find that the LoS approach is worse than standing at the entrance as there is more space to control the waves - guess it differs from tank to tank. One is true though - this is the first heroic in a long time that isn't the usual aoe-fest that we have come to expect in WotLK :)

I must say 1 thing about LFG system is that I never wait for a group if I list as a tank. Its within seconds :P

I still have not completed halls of reflection HC, havent even doen the first boss... :( how gay...but i agree, love the fact theres finally a hard dungeon!!
