But really makes no sense considering he would have definitely played for sa in ODI's...
But considering hes been unfairly dropped through out his career, and acted as a fill in player, i would probably quit too and go to a job that pays 5 times my current salary....

Just another example of how we neglect our most valuable commodity, personnel... But hey, we got so much talent in this country we don't need the likes of Kallis, Hall, Pieterson, Strauss etc etc etc

hall i think is a vital part of any team
he can bowl and bat which means we bat further down the order and we need that because we always 50/3
i think hall did the right thing, he has struggled and struggled to get into our team and he should be there without struggling, so go play somewhere else and earn 5 times as much as renden says

Kallis is needed in the ODI and Test matches.
Pieterson wasnt any good when he was in SA.
Strauss is a standard player, standard opener, Proteas dont have space for him.

Sorry simply don't agree JK8, what our sporting administrators are failing to do is 1. Identify talent and 2. ensure it remains an asset to the nation and not the competitors.
I will use rugby as an example because until lately this player exodus hasn't been as prevalent in cricket, however if we continue to be so blarsay about the number of toes of the top cricketers we step on we will see some of the worlds best players ply their trade abroad. i.e. Kevin Pieterson!! You state that he wasn't any good playing in SA. Was he no good as a player or was he perhaps undiscovered or worse still discovered but not handled and developed accordingly??!! How did he go from "no good" to ranked 4th and 2nd in test and one day cricket respectively??!!! I mean come on??!! Was it a fluke perhaps?!!
Anyhow I find the list below somewhat disturbing. Once again I reiterate I'm focusing on rugby players born and schooled in SA playing for other international sides. This list is off the top of my head, please fell free to add names and I'm focusing on since 2003ish...

I'm not disputing that, but why wasn't that someone his coach at Natal? Ironic that Duncan Fletcher the England coach is South African too....
He made his first-class debut for Natal in 1997 before moving to England in order to further his opportunities for playing at international level and after serving a qualifying period of four years playing at county level, he was called up almost immediately into the national side. He made his international debut in the One-day International match against Zimbabwe in 2004, and his Test match debut in the 2005 Ashes series against Australia the following year.
Pietersen quickly became the fastest batsman to reach both 1000 and 2000 runs in One-day International cricket, and currently has the highest average of any England player to have played more than 20 innings of one-day cricket. He also has the second-highest run total from his first 25 Tests, behind only the Australian Donald Bradman. He became only the third English batsman to top the ICC One-day International rankings, doing so in March 2007.
I wonder if New Zealand would have minded if Richard Hadlee had immigrated to South Africa soon after finishing school or if the Austrailian cricket academy wouldn't have noticed Shane Warnes potential and allowed him to immigrate to China where he would open a sushi bar...

Yeah the only people who believed that apparently where you and the Natal coach. You I can forgive cause it's probably not your job to recognise talent but the natal coach should be shot!!!
He impressed members of Nasser Hussain's England side when playing for KwaZulu Natal in 1999; he took four top-order wickets and, despite batting at number nine, scored 61 not out from 57 balls, hitting four sixes.Hussain then recommended that Pietersen secure a contract with an English county side.
Despite the praise from the England side, Pietersen was dropped from the Natal first team.
Theres allot of pressures in any sport regarding making the national team, its the highest accolade!
Being dropped for whatever reason happened to many players before him it was his choice to persevere in SA or run away to England, either way he is where he is cause he wanted to be there, other players under the same circumstances still stand a small chance of making another countries national team.
Congrats to Pietersen, But I still dont believe SA has lost a good player. He plays as well as he does coz of the road it took him to get there.

Nonsense!!! Anyone who has ever played cricket will understand and appreciate that technically it's an unbelievably difficult sport. His talent has nothing to do with the road he took or where he is playing his cricket. He is playing where he is (England) because after taking 4 wickets and scoring 61 off 57 playing against England for Natal in 1999, Hussein suggested he come play in England (Kevin's grandmother is British) and after Natal dropped him he did just that. You don't suddenly become a talented cricketer, the potential was always there and it's criminal that no one locally identified the talent.
He is currently rated above the likes of Mike Hussey, Mathew Hayden and Jacque Kallis in test cricket and only Ricky Ponting is rated above him in one day cricket. Now how does a player with that much talent and potential get dropped from his provincial team??!!
The point I am making is that in SA 1. CSA is not looking after our cricketers hence the Boucher, Kallis, Hall and Loots issues of late 2. CSA is not identifying talent and ensuring it remains our asset.
