Halogen Convection Oven

These things are invented to give bachelors/bacholerettes more meal choices and more dignity when dining over the kitchen sink.

The halogen is really for one person or an elderly couple - It's not a family affair. I think the microwave is looking at extinction.

They make your life a lot easier but until they can cook a potato in 6 minutes they'll never replace the microwave.

uh humm... i have one of these as well, and i do believe the OP mentioned recipes etc....

Salmon fillets
Pork recipe. One of my favourites in conv. oven
This one from Whatsfordinner also comes out very nice. My daughter will eat this everyday ;)

New grill rack?

Anyone know where I can get a new grill rack (preferably stainless steel) for the Halogen Convection Oven? My el-cheapo one's grill rack is starting to rust :(. It still works perfectly otherwise.

I've searched and found a the "Cobb Roast Rack" at Makro (similar to this) but it is a tad to big so it sits right against the glass, I am worried that under heat it would cause the glass to crack.

Can you use roasting bags with these ovens? Maybe I must get one of these for myself. Only things I really make in the oven is boerewors and roast veg and those Woolies chicken in a roasting bag. Seems a waste to fire up a gazillion watt oven for a single person.

which one do you have? maybe try contacting logitek or whoever you bought yours from directly??
 
Ockie, Its worth getting and so easy to use, the only thing i don't like is cleaning that big bowl

Logik but I dont really want another one from them (since my old grill rusted), bought mine from Makro or Game. Looked around at Makro, only found some for the Cobb.

I think I will. R399.00 is so little and if it is more economical electricity wise then I see no reason why not, specially for a single guy like me. I would think the glass bowl would be easier to clean than those big metal plate things from the normal oven. Gosh, those things are cumbersome to try and clean in the sink.

I would rather go for the Sunbeam now since my Logik's roast/grill racks started rusting. I see the Sunbeam says "Stainless steel baking / roasting rack" on Takealot so its probably a better bet.

Pro tip, go buy a Cosmo @ R30 (the one with the big red R100 Takealot voucher in front), then get this http://www.takealot.com/home-kitchen/sunbeam-professional-convection-oven,11009786 for R355 (save R70)

/ they dont seem to have stock so delivery will take a long time.

Ooops. Did not look at the date. /blush

Moving in July, and need to buy everything from scratch. Bed being delivered in a few days, but then need to buy microwave, cutlery, fridge, washing machine .... EVERYTHING....so will look at getting one of these babies then. Maybe I can get one for free from Makro if I buy my stuff from them lol
