Hamza fails doping test

Furosemide?

Furosemide is a strong diuretic (water pill) that helps your body get rid of excess water. It does this by increasing the amount of urine your body makes

Is this banned because excess urine might make them miss other drugs?

Either way he is looking at a min of 9 months. That is if they buy his story.

Warne also took diuretics, admitted to it, and got banned. No ways they will let this slide. He's getting the ban hammer brought down.

There is no way to plead ignorance when players these days have access to the banned list and would have attended multiple anti drug workshops.

He is definitely getting a ban , it just depends whether they are lenient and gives him a 6/9 month ban or 12+ months.

I'm guessing he was smoking pot so needed to flush it out.
I don't think you get performance drugs for batting.

Of course you do. Stimulants for example could assist batsmen with remaining focused and minimising fatigue, especially in a Test environment.

Doping isn't just improving strength, recovery and stamina.

Part of a batmans skill is to remain relaxed. If he's overstimulated it could have the opposite effect where he goes hard at the ball instead of playing with "soft hands."
The doping benefits of test batting are therefore negligible.

For a bowler - yes definitely.

Part of a Test batman's skill set is also dealing with fatigue and maintaining focus and concentration.

On to the physical side, remember the BALCO scandal that opened the PED can of worms in baseball? If you have to smack a ball as far as you can, of course benefits can be found in taking enhancing substances. Now batting in cricket is far more refined than in baseball, but there is no denyting that batsmen will benefit from having a little extra power behind their batting.

"Furosemide is a loop diuretic medication used to treat fluid build-up due to heart failure, liver scarring, or kidney disease.
It may also be used for the treatment of high blood pressure. It can be taken by injection into a vein or by mouth."

Was he recently injured? Maybe he had a medical procedure ? the report said that he had already identified how it got into his system
