Hi guys,

Hope someone might be able to help me. I want to get one of those small handheld vacuum machine but it needs to have a lot of suction power. Reason being that sometimes the dogs would sit on the couch and leave hair behind. Now its crap taking out the big vacuum every single time.

Does anyone have suggestions for me please, one with lots of suction power that would be able to remove the hairs easily and quickly. I would ask my wife to do it but she hates the hair in her mouth so now I would need to resort to one of these.

Thanks

Wel alot of the handhelds that rely on being charged, i found they just get weaker and weaker over time. I suppose of the strongest ones are the 12V Black n Deckers or Hoovers :

But i've had the Hoover one, and it wasn't as good with suction as i'd hoped, i always felt the need to take out the proper vacuum. Thing with these charged handhelds is, as you use the vacuum it tends to get weaker as the battery drains, and most can't run directly from power either, you need to dock them and charge. So it's ok for quick bread crumbs and dust type of tasks, but not great if you decide to "lets just do the whole carpet here quickly while i'm at it" .

However, i have replaced mine with a corded mini vacuum you get from Verimark. It is a handheld that can turn into a full vacuum with all kinds of attachments on both sides , so you kinda get best of both. It still however uses a cable, but it's not a big deal for me because it implies generally more consistent suction power and i don't need to charge or have the battery drain in the middle of a big vacuum session.

It's this one: https://www.verimark.co.za/products/genesis-multivac-turbo/

Makro also has something similar for cheaper (with less attachments, not sure what the suction power is)

I just use one of those rubber rollers that is sticky and picks up the hair.... also available at Verimark.

Its actually better than a vacuum because it picks up much more and you just rinse it and use it again.

I have a Black and Decker Dustbuster from Makro but would not recommend it.

You have to charge it for ages to get strong suction power and the filter is not that easy to clean.

... and this

The rechargeable ones are really junk ... we've owned probably almost every brand on the market, and they all only last about 4-6 months, batteries done, and you can't do anything with it. Rather get an electrical small/handheld unit.

I had a cordless Hoover but it broke after the first use. So I took it back to Game and got another one. That one also broke after the first use.

So then I just asked for a gift voucher. I'm still deciding if I want to buy another one again.

I didn't ask if my ****ing dogs can be on the couch or not, or inside the ****ing house or not, all I wanted was for advice on which type of vacuum to get. ****sakes!!!!

To the rest of the people that replied, thank you for the info, really appreciate it.

Yes, that's how we all feel when the peanut gallery here on MyBB gives irrelevant advice not asked for :)

I have been using the same Hoover cordless. Keep the batteries loaded, clean it after use and I am convinced you wil be a happy person :)

Disagree with both of you.

There are various models in each brands range and most people make the mistake of going for the cheaper ones which have smaller batteries and smaller motors.

We have the Black & Decker 7.2V Dustbuster Wet & Dry and its amazing. On its battery it gives 10 minutes continues use, thats enough to clean the car after a trip to the beach with kids. Anything less than 7.2V is a waste but always make sure you buy the correct size for your needs. For pet hairs I would go with a 12V.

Ours gets used daily and is rather easy to clean.

Most users forget that on all hand held vacuum cleaners you need to clean the filter / bag after each use.

Ours is over a year old and its used daily between the wife, maid and me.

Thanks for the advice guys, will look into those models.

I have a 12V vacuum. I think its Hoover.
The battery last more than half hr continuous use. Its over a year old and still going strong.
Its very handy for small quick jobs.

I've never come across a decent portable vacuum cleaner with enough suction power.

You can't beat a good old 2,000W Hoover that plugs into the wall.
