Opened my Capitec bank account yesterday and I am almost done transferring all my debit orders.

Once the last one has been transferred, I can move the moolah in the ABSA account over to Capitec and then ..... *rubbing hands gleefully* .... I will walk into my ABSA branch and bid my farewells to the most pathetic, expensive and inefficient bank ever.

Yes, this pleases me no end :)

Bwahaha - Its very rare to find a bank that's good at customer care. Let us know how it pans out.

I'm also tempted to make the move from Standard, then I try to do something with one of the others and realise there may not be a better alternative. Sigh.

:D :D

If my stomach was not so big, I would have considered. With my luck I will fall and they will refuse to help me up!

Just wave your hands and legs and rock like a turtle that's fallen on its back :p

At the very least, if the service is not better, the costs are lower. That helps already.

Congrats! I'm very happy with Capitec. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how much money will appear in your account each month from the interest they pay you.
After years of getting practically nothing I still do a double-take each time I view my statement and try to grasp the fact that my bank is actually giving me money.

Congrats, now you can watch your money grow instead of shrink every month.

Yay!!

How does ATM withdrawals work with them. I have never seen a Capitec ATM in my life so what do they charge for using the likes of FNB, ABSA etc ATMs?

Dear Happy Days!

Good Luck and be careful, as technology has become the wave of the future, customer service I am afraid has gone out the window. You have to go thru the whole automated system before you ever get to a live person, that is if you are lucky. My feeling is that with the automation we lost our emotion to feel, to want to communicate, to want to make someones day with a simple smile. I love this future of ours but I want the old loving feeling of customer service too! How can we have our cake and eat it to so to speak? I am open for suggestions.

Think it's about R7, but afaik you can draw at tillpoints (not sure if only Pick 'n Pay), for nothing.

To correct you Bismuth, cash withdrawals at PnP does not come for free, but at a cost of R1. (The other banks charge about R4, AFAIK)

To withdraw cash from a Capitec ATM = R3.75

To withdraw cash from another bank's ATM = R7.00
