Hi all

I'm looking for a Dual SATA and IDE hard drive enclosure that supports e-SATA/USB 2/USB 3

Is there such a thing?

AFAIK it's not possible to do IDE to SATA/e-SATA or vice versa. I also don't know about dual enclosures. Vantec makes an adapter for SATA/IDE/Memory cards to USB2. Haven't seen one to USB3 though but haven't looked recently.

AFAIK it's not possible to do IDE to SATA/e-SATA or vice versa.

If the enclosure is not of the slotted variety (drive slides in and connectors align like a laptop) and there is space in the enclosure then you should be able to use a adapter I reckon.

But there is no such thing out of the box as far as I'm aware.

Another option:

The supplier info is wrong. That is the one I have and it can not do e-SATA, only USB2.
Vantec have a SATA to USB3 adaptor but it can not do IDE. Its called:'NexStar SuperSpeed SATA to USB 3.0 Adapter'
Again AFAIK IDE can not talk to SATA direct, only via USB.

Review:
http://techarkade.com/component/con...120u3si-sataide-to-usb-30-adapter-review.html

Performance

This adapter has pretty steady results compared with the previous USB 3.0 devices we’ve reviewed. Using the USB 3.0 interface will work on USB 2.0 ports, but it’s highly recommended to use a USB 3.0 port.
Quality

The product is obviously high quality. It is made out of a quality material and provides many useful interfaces. They adapter isn’t going to fall apart on you and the cables are going to last a long time.
Value

For the price this is a great device. It supports most every drive ever made, allowing you to find drives you had laying around and access old data. If your case or motherboard doesn’t support a hard drive, you can use this adapter to easily connect your drive in a matter of seconds.
Pros
Supports both IDE and SATA drives
USB 3.0 Interface
Easy to use
Hot swappable
Cons
Connection cables might not be long enough for some

EDIT: I see Venomous has already mentioned this. / waves hello

yip there are many variations of these things, maybe not all HDD enclosures but things that can make life easier.

Indeed.

Many many nice shiny gadgets to streamline the daily burden!

I must remember to keep an eye out for them... seem to only notice them when they are mentioned.
