Hard drive question

If I uplug my SATA hd from my work computer & take it home, when I plug it in my home PC, will it prompt to format?

TIA

Tried to plug my 1Tb hard drive from home into my work PC and it deleted everything off it :(
Then i plugged my normal work drive back in and it formatted that also. Saying something about unrecognised drive partition. :( Lost all my work info :( I.T here sucks! took them all day to fix it. They said they had to "recreate the zero sector" or something. I think they were lying to me!

I go out for 5 minuets and it all goes downhill...

Now all we need is wayne... :D

ok, its Friday afternoon & some of u want to have sum fun, I can appreciate that.....Im not willing to take a chance....

Your home PC... is your master HDD SATA or IDE?

Ahhh then you're def SOL...

If you had IDE, then it might not have formatted the work drive automatically.. but since your primary drive is SATA as well it will format the work one without a doubt....

oh ****e... me better go home to check if windows has not started to format one of my 30SATA drives yet.

mebe 3 years, and after scanning this thread it may start doing the impossible. :O

Rands

No it wont format your drive ( biggest possible issue will be that it tries to boot from it, which can be solved by selecting the correct boot order in the BIOS.)

normally quite a lot of warnings get displayed before a drive gets formatted, unless you have a properly trained virus that will do the job for you.

good luck!

Just import it using Disk Manager if it gives you problems when you install it in a different machine - and only if the disk is dynamic....
