Hard drives

I have a Maxtor IDE drive that's about 5-6 years old. Had no problems ever and even now it is DEAD quiet.

I also have a Seagate SATA drive. I'ts about 4-6 months old and same for this one. DEAD quiet and NO problem at all.

What more do you want?

sure. lets face it if their drives crashed ALL the time they would be out of business. here is a great article

http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2628&p=1

pits seagate vs hitachi vs western digital. Good read but bear in mind it is for one model of drive.

Reason why i hate Seagte is once we ordered like 8 drives and in a four month period and 7/8 crashed. NFI why they crashed, maybe a bad batch, so yeah WD or Hitachi thanks.

I also have an old 4 year old Maxtor still pumping away albeit i will only save useless crap on it cuz i have had 2 maxtors die on me for no reason.

Anyway waaaay OT. heh.

LOL, yeah, maybe we went OT...atleast we're learning here:p This Seagate is my first and I bought it just because everyone I consulted said go Seagate. All my others drives were Maxtor. Only reason Why I don't have the rest is because I got a bit to small:)

Everybody have their own views and experiences:D

I had three WDs fail in the last month. And many before that.

SB has a P3 650 and XP SP1. What are the limitations?
