hehehe, its just so typical of Telkom's excellent accounting people and MENSA mathematicians to come up with a system where its cheaper to buy 10 * 3 GB's than 1 * 30 GB's accounts. ingenious!

Can anybody confirm the authenticity of the telkom letter. A few things seem wrong with it:
1) Telephone code on top is 012 (PTA), the one at the bottom is 021 (CT).
2) Wouldn't the notice come from SAIX and not directly from telkom ?
3) There is no date on the letter.

Maybe a hoax.

Well, the isp's claim to have this letter, or a very similar one, they are all just to **** scared to share it with the general public for whatever warped reason, maybe they can make money out of it I dont know.
All the people who claimed to have the letter wont send it in, non disclosure crap apparently.
ISP's claim to be meeting with Telkom on these very issues, but they arnt talking.
Legit or fake, let ICASA find out for us.

So what can you do?
Phone ICASA @ 011 321-8200, be polite and refer them to the documents that are on Hellkoms front page or print them out and fax them in.
The more people that query the pricing the better the response will be.
Its only 1 phone call, if you dont phone, dont come crying when Telkom enforce a hard cap on your dsl.

Lol just like Telkom reported their new ADSL service 1024 up and 256 down. BTW I got it from Hellkom.co.za.

If you actually look at the content, the one is refering to their Telkom Wholesale Office whereas the other is refering to Paul Pouwels the Acount Manager and also includes his celphone.

Call the number and find out if this is legit?

Well, if the local loop becomes unbundled you guys will be able to pick a provider.
I.E you could get an I.S, UUNET and anyone else who's offering ADSL.
So you get UUNET ADSL and you would go straight to UUNET not via telkom.

In my mind that's the best soluton for you guys if telkom gets stroppy. Assuming the local loop becomes unbundled.

I really don't want to pessimistic, but LLU??!!?? I will bet my WoW account with 1 year subscription included that LLU will not happen before 2010. Let's take a look at it:

ICASA announces LLU in 2006.
Telkom jumps up and down at the high court 80ms later that this is in some obscure way illegal and that they should have been warned 5 years in advance.
The high court tells Ivy (minister of miscommunication) to appoint someone for investigation - 3 years pass and Ivy finishes counting the money she got back in 2005 from Telkom and wonders why she should appoint someone.
I think I'll stop here.
