6 months if the item has no direct manufacturer support otherwise probably near full manufacturers warranty period and it may have started on the date of the original purchase of the item not when ordered as an open box item.

Yes, you will need to add a heatsink to this - otherwise it overheats & shuts down the PS5 mid-game.

A heat sink is R300 bucks off from a SA store if I remember right. Was mentioned in one of the gaming threads for the PS5

I really battled to find a heatsink in SA that would work with the PS5. So ended up ordering a few from Amazon.
I also bought a NVME on special - without a heatsink. SEAGATE FIRECUDA 530 1TB NVMe SSD back in mid October 2021.
Been using it in the PS5 without a heatsink but have lately had some random shutdowns after playing for extended periods.
Heatsinks should arrive shortly.
