Would the LED backlighting be worth the extra R1000 up from the Makro offer? Ok, and 2ms response instead of 5ms.

I don't see why paying R1000 more for the LED screen. The normal LCD screens is still good.

Ye, apparently there is a noticeable difference between LED and normal LCDs. I still can't justify the price difference though.

Yea, it's more notably a marketing ploy to some certain extent. What we really need is OLED screens.

I have heard a few people comment on LED and it seems it is more of a marketing strategy rather than a awesome new technology.

From what I heard the screen is not actually LED, its in fact the backlighting that is powered by LED, the panel itself is still LCD.

Don't know if this is accurate though, just what I was told.

Aha, that goes for TV's as well I am assuming?

The price differences between a Full HD LCD and equivalent LED is ridiculous, almost double

LED backlighting is advantageous in some respects, it consumes less power, it achieves full brightness instantly and it lasts longer compared to CCFL. Whether that's worth paying a premium for, well, that's debatable.

Bought the 2TB Toshiba external HD from Makro today for R1299, not bad. Copying data from my current 1TB now and going to use the 1TB as internal (got the Samsung 1TB from Kalahari special last year).

The Canon 550D special was sold out already when we arrived at Woodmead around lunch today.

Hey guys.

Hi Fi corp has a special on the LG W2343S PF 23" full HD screens at the moment. They going for R1299 in EL. I Would imagine its country wide. 30000:1 and 5ms. Bargain if you want full hd on a budget.

Same thing is on special at Incredible corruption for R1599.

Can you believe they hace the same parent company!
