Just went home for my Neotel wireless broadband demo appointment, and saw my Asus Xonar D2X card (delivered this morning), very nice and going to install it tonight, very very good review from what I saw and for the price you get something that can compete with Creative Elite Pro in Analogue output and wiped out EP in Digital output........

I've narrowed down my search for a good budget motherboard(below R600) to a:
Gigabyte GA-G31M-s2l and ASUS P5kpl-vm
because they both are capable of more than 2gig ram, capable of handling the latest cpu and are quite cheap and are overclock friendly.
Anybody have any other alternatives?

Dunno, but the cheapest before that was R704, so the drop from their shop was a bit unexpected.

I still have a GA-G31MX-S2 (a little better on specs than your s2l), then I upgrade to the EP35-DS3R. Decent budget board and easily overclocked my E4500 to 130%, running 2G DDR 800 and 8800GT with no problem. Hint hint....This board is current sitting on my shelf not being used.

And if anyone knows of where I can find a 226BW new for cheap then let me know. I am yet to find a place that still stocks them for a reasonable price.

Well IC had them at R3500 which is not reasonable

I would get another 2232 if I could find some way to mount them that doesn't involve standing the thing on a telephone directory or similar

Ja the whole unadjustable stand thing does suck a bit. I though the 226's were completely decomissioned? And i'd rather chew my arm off than buy from IC. Have you tried Sybaritic? I knew they use to stock them(even the s-panels nogal) but not sure if they're still getting them. Was R3100 or something back then.

I got the one I have from IC for R2999 a few months back which was too much to pay then already.

Now, it seems as if they are the only people who still have stock...
