Thanks I found the Nexus 7 at FirstStore http://www.firstshop.co.za/google-nexus-7-tablet-nexus7-1b083a-p-15441 same price more or less but there seems to be a delivery problem -someone still waiting for their goods three weeks now on First store thread?
Looks good. This Chinese version. But I also want to know if they are reliable as well.

That looks like the original model of the Nexus 7 (which was replaced by the 2013 edition last year). Doubt they would be able to get stock since it's EOL.

Oh I see now Reliablity is out the window, too chancy for my liking even though they made good. I don't like it when a merchant says they have stock then when I ask can they guarantee delivery in the time frame they give and they cannot (but at least they are honest about it) http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...st-Shop!!!?p=12423736&highlight=#post12423736

Funny I asked did they have "stock" as it said limited or no stock and the chat Artist said "yes" but before I got into the nitty gritty whuch I am sure I would have done I wanted to know if they could guarantee delivery in the stated period - but she could not so I thought hmmm someone else waited 3 weeks and its just not worth the risk now the bait and switch ...just goes to show ...Thankfully we have these forums to sort whats what.

i looked at the comments and the main complaint is that the wi fi is next to useless unless one is within 8 m of the router, and i dont see how to make that possible in a boarding shool spread out over several dozen acres :( where she might be in a dorm room about a km from the school wi fi system.

Going to have to up the budget to 1500 I suppose, but for what? I just dont want my 10 year old to call me in 3 days after getting the tablet "er..Dad..it's broke" OTOH I can't let her take the Apple because she'll drop it and to replace that will be a lot more painful than replacing a chinese branded thingy.

I checked their terms and conditions they offer you buyer protection.

And besides you have CPA to cover you. I was also worried about stores online in SA. Nowadays CPA covers you really well.

It's a lot more, but Apple I-Something + iCare is the way to go :D

My best chinese tablet I ever got was a Chuwi V88 from DinoDirect.com. That thing is amazing! Runs like an iPad, has more memory than an iPad, Same Battery Life as an iPad, Only big difference - iPad = R7000, Chuwi = R1500 :)

Just my 2c :D

The CPA ain't worth the paper it is written on.

I Just want to get the f___G thing here . says discounted from $408 t0 %142 + shipping cheapest courier aramak (Berco) at $16
What did customs hit you up for? Was wi fi strong ? were instructions in legible english because some comments make me wonder what home language these people speak. example "Received in Russia for 36 days. The tablet is not included. Very upset.
Cons:Received in Russia for 36 days. The tablet is not included. Very upset.
Other Thoughts:Received in Russia for 36 days. The tablet is not included. Very upset."
I mean wtf.

Yea, thats the one :D

Mine came in a good quality package, including everything for the tablet :) The tablet was in perfect working order so all was good :D To be honest, the Wifi couldve been better - but its by no means poor. Ive installed a new ROM onto it, but it's not needed :)

Mine took about 3 weeks to arrive - so it is quite a while. No instructions needed, just turn it on and select english :D Don't know about that russian guy :D hahaha poor guy :p

Shipping should be free? They have regular worldwide free postage, and because the order is over $50, it includes airmail with tracking (which helped me out when my package got stuck in JHB for a week)

All in all, R1400 for the tablet + R200 customs, so basically I got to around R1600 - which I am very happy with!

Its a good tablet if you can wait for postage etc etc.
