Then your tablet is faulty or breaks after one month ......... Cost to ship back to china 180rand minimum. Wait delay to get the product back 1month. At the cost of the consumer. I rather buy locally and be fully covered with warranty that's local and fast deliveries. Oh and don't forget the customs duties. And or breakages that could happen in transit. It happens I've got the tshirt.

Any chance you can find out what the exact model number is? It seems like it has a 1080p screen, which makes it amazing value for money! For Photoshop use, I'm not too sure how it will run. 6GB RAM seems enough, i5 is quite decent, GPU isn't the best, screen is amazing (if it is 1080p). But, for that price I don't think you'll find any better.

If you have some extra to spend, this is what you want: http://www.wootware.co.za/msi-gamin...s-8-single-language-64-bit-15-6-notebook.html

Went into the store. It's not the full HD version :(

Back to laptop searching... Budget can't be more than R10 000.
Needs backlit keyboard, at least i5 4th gen and full HD...

EDIT: Preferably in Cape Town (so I can check it out first...)

Yea that's always an issue, however just think about what you could buy here for R1600, not much good quality stuff :/

Yea, thats the one :D

Mine came in a good quality package, including everything for the tablet :) The tablet was in perfect working order so all was good :D To be honest, the Wifi couldve been better - but its by no means poor. Ive installed a new ROM onto it, but it's not needed :)

Mine took about 3 weeks to arrive - so it is quite a while. No instructions needed, just turn it on and select english :D Don't know about that russian guy :D hahaha poor guy :p

Shipping should be free? They have regular worldwide free postage, and because the order is over $50, it includes airmail with tracking (which helped me out when my package got stuck in JHB for a week)

All in all, R1400 for the tablet + R200 customs, so basically I got to around R1600 - which I am very happy with!

Its a good tablet if you can wait for postage etc etc.

China here we come! :D I mean really, they are on their way to world domination, so may as well join the party and shop straight at source... what's 3 weeks in the grand scheme of things? Even Apple has a silly label "Designed in California" but "Made in China"
School hols coming up again so right, *whips out Mastercard*
and Guys spare me the bit on local servicing . 9 suppliers out of 10 will say its broke and can't be fixed and the part is usually just out of warranty.

EDIT : oh ****. Comment on page 2 Low range Wifi. When I tried to use it in a different room where my router is located, the V88 could not connect to the net. -

Does anyone know what is an acceptable range for wi fi and do devices vary by all that much?
I dont want to have to end up buying a 3g dongle for the wi fi but is it possible to get long range wi fi or is it safer to just have a 3g and eat the costs if the wi fi is just not where you need it?

Going to be difficult to find :(

That MSI lappie is great for the price and what you need. You'll have to wait for a special on something good I guess.

I don't think there's such a thing as an 'acceptable range' for wifi (because as the Americans say, 'your mileage may vary), and yes, devices certainly do vary and I'm not aware there is a standard. Even the same device can have different ranges, e.g. my Huawei MiFi device has a stated range of 10m when running on its own battery, 20m when running off a standard USB port, and a very optimistic 100m when running off its own mains charger.

I would have thought 10m is the least you should expect from any modern device.

Half-decent Wifi is very useful for a tablet IMO. My year old Galaxy Tab manages 30-40% signal at about 7m through 3 walls, from our TP-Link router. I think this is about the basic I require, for surfing to work well enough. Any lower than that and I'd install a booster access-point

It gets one bar where my ipad gets two, so it's somewhat like that :/"

Exact same screen as ipad mini so can be replaced with one if I'm not mistaken.

Why don't you look at a secondhand machine? My sister bought a machine from a link that you posted previously and she seems to be very happy with it.

I am in the same situation (need i5+ FHD) but am very circumspect. Some deals are too good to be true, and I would never support a 'luck'. If it fell of a truck no dice. There are some very cheap laptops on BoB that I would love to purchase, but why is a new machine going at 30% of the retail price? For me it needs to be completely above board - how can a new R18K laptop at R9K be legit? Some sellers have very postive feedback over time, but even though the seller may buy and sell second hand how can they sell the devices so cheaply?

There are many sellers on Bidorbuy who sell hundreds of secondhand laptops and have very good feedback. Dell laptops have a barcode somewhere on the machine which you can use to obtain their service history from their website and would presumably alert you if the machine had been stolen. You should be able to contact the seller via the Ask the Seller a Question link to discuss any concerns that you may have regarding your purchase. The local pricing of secondhand laptops seems to be similar to that on eBay etc.

Perhaps that's the route I will have to take in order to get something with the specs and budget I'm looking for...

That looks awesome. I see it here and here

No 1920x1080 FHD screen though. :( I'm going to be editing photographs so was hoping for a FHD screen but that seems like a good buy being a 4th gen i7 and all...

I found a few options for you guys. Great news is I got accepted by Bizcloud to become a reseller. I always though they only accept companies, I was shocked to get my approval notification this morning. They accepted me as a reseller in my personal capacity.

Super excited to get started. If you look at their pricelists it's obvious you cannot get cheaper than them. http://bizcloudapp.co.za/supplier-program/
