I feel like designing a container ideal for external HDD's :p Then you can turn them on/off individually and hook them all up to a central USB hub. :p

Would come in handy for sure. :p

I just don't understand how one can grab a 3TB external for R1,3K (retail) these days while internal drives are still sitting at around R1,5K at COST?! One would think that externals should be more expensive because of the additional housing/packaging and the included power/data cables?

I suppose because IC/Makro/Game purchase the externals in large quantities from the suppliers they get a lank discount.

Did you ever consider removing the drive and mounting it in your pc?

I think people don't like doing it due to warranty issues.

I haven't had any issues with my externals being placed into my PC.
For each his own though.
Almost seems worth the risk considering the difference in price.

Very much this. A friend of mine also ripped the housing off one of his externals for internal use and 6 months later the drive failed on him so in a nutshell he could have wiped his arse with R1300. That's not a risk I'm prepared to take.

I think its because most external drives are 5400rpm and internal drives are 7200rpm. 5400rpm drives are better suited for storage purposes and 7200rpm drives are better suited for performance or OS purposes. Just a thought :)

Now you're moving in the right direction.
They generally are slower, this I agree with.

SSD on its way.

May I add though, an external running via usb is also slower than via sata cables.

hey guys,

looking for a good price/performance 22-24" monitor.
What would be your vote?

ya.. except 15ms response time?

Went to Marko today and saw it. I then went across the road to mitabyte and ended up getting an LG D2343P for R1999.
Trying it out now - the screen looks good, but the stand feels incredibly wobbly.

About R60-R70 cheaper up the road at Esquire but still a good monitor.

Response times are often not that reflective of reality. Along with contrast ratios and wattage ratings. It's a number that often gets fudged to sound much better than it is. A 15ms response time on a good quality monitor will be quite acceptable.
