Meh... Just had a look on PCZones website...

Best not to look at those prices unless you are close to their store. They just make sad otherwise :p

In other news, I still haven't received my refund from Kalahari...

Are these prices kosher?

From PcInternational.

Geforce 9500GT 512MB-DDR2 DVI TV-Out - R 679 excl. R 774 incl
Geforce 9600GT 512MB DDR2 Dual DVI - XFX - R 919 excl. R 1,047 incl

I've seen 8800GT's going for more - second hand!
Is there something dysfunctional about the Geforce brand or are they just having good prices?

Mmm just now seeing on PH's site as well that 95xx series cards are cheaper than 88xx series.

Were the 95xx series cards in the market before the 88xx or is it just some marketing ploy?

Oh mmmmm @ news24, sorry for discussing bru  :p :D :D

No, they're just the lower end of a new series so they're cheaper and less powerful than the high end of the previous series. It always works like that.

Pcint's prices are good though, that 9600GT is probably a better deal than the 8800GT. And the change between 8 and 9 series was a bit weird for Nvidia, the 9800GT is in fact a 8800GT, simply the same card rebranded.

Is it the case that the 9800 is like 2 9600s?

Just got a quote from the guy I bought my PC through. He quotes me for the 4850 ATI 1GB graphics card - wait for it R1250, including delivery (courier to door). He says he's busy trying to compete with PC Zone and i compared the 9600gt with PC Zone's price and he's about R150 cheaper! Very impressed. PM me and i'll send his details.

Does he have a website or pricelist?
