I placed an order with DealExtreme - arrived in South Africa 8 days later (including weekend). Got stuck in SA Post Office strike at International Mailing Centre at OR Thambo.

So from Hong Kong to Johannesburg - 8 days!
From Johannesburg to Pretoria (me) - 35 days!

Well I got all in the end - no shipping costs - paid the taxman the VAT and a few cents - still a bargain!

I also phoned Dealextreme at one stage...very helpful in English and efficient!

So, in short, my experience with Dealextreme was good and I saved a lot of money!
 
The Japanese are even more efficient. :) Audiotechnica headphones from Japan to my doorstep in 4 days and it wasn't even a courier. :) How the hell it didn't wind up sitting at customs for several weeks is beyond me.

Well I hope our local post office strikes aren't as dodgey as the ones in the UK. It's been 2 years now and I'm still waiting for a set of custom VW 2L 16V ignition leads from the UK. Word is during the UK strikes they just popped mail onto any flight irrelevant of destination. So somewhere in Kazakhstan there's some prostitute using ignitions cables for a necklace... or something else.

Thanks for the heads up, emailed Texo ... not sure why its down again.

Confirmed with Supplier, price is right ... although even Asus ZA was shocked with the price. They haven't landed in SA yet, but backorders are being accepted and stock should arrive next week. I have loaded them on my site though.

Site is down thanks to DDOS attack, 8 tech's working on it at host, hopefully won't be down much longer.

Is there a minimum qty or rand value that you need to order from these guys?
Does anybody have an idea of what the charges for customs would be if I bought some stuff to the value of about R1000?

There is no minimum rand value, I ordered something for R14 once :). I don't know if R1000 worth of stuff is wise as I have heard stories of things being lost in transportation. They may resend but you should do some research first.
 
The banner top right has gone, but there's still a smaller linky on the left. I must find something to blow the R100 voucher on that they gave me.
