23" Dell LCD at Game R1099, was there yesterday & they did not receive any stock.

I don't even bother at Game anymore - they never have stock of the "sale" items iven 08h00 on the first morning of the sale...

Then they're breaking the law. Ask for a rain-check. In fact, demand one.

In fact Game has two policies you can insist on (I always do, with success):
1) If an advertised special is not available, they must give you a voucher for it allowing you to buy it at that price when stock comes in
2) If you can prove to them that it is cheaper elsewhere (even if you have already bought the item from Game!) they must better that price or refund you more than the difference (even if they only better the price by R1 or R10). The onus is on you to prove a cheaper price elsewhere (e.g. by producing a current rival promotions leaflet), though you can ask them to call the rival (local) supplier to confirm.

And guess what, they didnt have stock for 2 days & when i went on to check again - "Sold Out"
Dont believe they ever got stock.

Been using my 42inch LG LCD for a PC monitor for a while now, moved back with folks for a bit and put the TV in the lounge for them. Need a new monitor and been looking at the 24inch LED Sammy, but thought this one might be a better choice? Any thoughts if this will be decent enough for a PC screen? The 32inch LED a year ago, was around R11000....now its R4299...I rate this is a decent deal.

Some amazing deals there. I'm loving that Euroline 40" full hd monitor for R3000.

I see. Could you explain why please?

Better picture quality. Most experts agree on this. Even a cursory examination at the store would show that LEDs have better image quality compared with LCDs or plasma TVs. The reason for this is that the LED backlighting allows for improved contrast levels and display of blacks as well as better color accuracy. And if you get a full array LED TV, in which the LEDs are arranged across the entire surface of the screen, there is little light leakage from the screen in darker scenes, allowing for better dark levels than those of other types of hi-def flat screen TVs.

Brighter Pictures. This is a particularly important consideration if you’re planning to use your LED TV in a room with a big picture window, such as your living room, or one that otherwise is brightly lit. Apart from a more brightly-lit picture, LED TVs also have non-reflective screens, reducing glare and making viewing easier.

Lower power consumption. In general, LED TVs use less electricity to run compared with LCD TVs. However, this may not be true for all types of LEDs. According to experts, edge-lit LEDs, in which the LEDs are arranged around the edges of the panel, use 30% to 40% less power than LCDs or plasmas. But the same may not be true for some models of full-array LEDs, which may even use more power than plasma TVs. So if this is a concern for you, check the model of LED TV you’re buying very carefully.

Better aesthetics. Depending on which type of LED TV you’re getting, they can be extremely thin, making them not only easier to install in your home theater, but also more attractive to look at. Again, however, there are differences between models, as LEDs that use the edge backlight technology are generally thinner than those which use full-array LEDs.

More environment-friendly. LED TVs do not use mercury, compared with the traditional LCD TVs, which makes disposing of them safer when they have to be replaced. And they reportedly last longer than LCD TVs, which means they’ll need to be replaced less frequently than other types of TVs. Some manufacturers are even claiming a life of 100,000 hours although this has yet to be validated.

My turn. ;)

Your article mentions full array RGB LED screens with local dimming mainly - or at least, those are the ones that actually have better image quality than LCDs. Those cost a heck of a lot. All "LED" PC screens mentioned in this forum, or 99% of "LED TVs" mentioned in the DSTV forum, are edge-lit LED. Edge-lit LEDs offer no picture quality improvement over LCD. In fact, edge-lit LED LCDs (the correct terminology so as to not promote marketing hype) are still LCDs - just with a gimmicky name to sell more at a higher price... The LEDs still pass through the same old LCD matrix - 95% the same technology, only difference being the back-light source, which is LEDs at the edges. Again, there is no picture quality difference because of this. You said they are "much better quality wise", and that is not true. Of course, the masses believe that they are better. ;)

Sure, full array RGB LED screens with local dimming are better than LCDs and LED edge-lit LCDs, but the fact of the matter is they either do not exist in PC screens, or are extremely rare/pricey, even in LED-LCD TVs.

The only benefits LED edge-lit LCDs have over CCFL LCDs is that they are slimmer, consume slightly less electricity, and have higher dynamic contrast ratios (which of course are BS too...).

Hope this helps. Let me know if you want some links. :)

Really PmP, you should have some of your posts saved on your desktop for easy reference/copy&paste.
