It seems to be the same it is a Transcend USB and yes I've managed to copy over 8 gigs to it, haven't needed to copy anything bigger yet. A colleague of mine suggested it as he purchased one a while ago and had only good things to say about it. For me - so far so good, hope it lasts.

I don't foresee your drive lasting to long. I certainly wouldn't use it store anything important on.

Seems maybe there are good ones and bad ones then.... Maybe you were lucky?

If it has a green strip, says V30, and says 32GB - it's one of the fake "4GB" drives.

TechHero download H2testw by Harald Bögeholz, backup the data and quick format the drive then run the test.
The function of H2testw is quite simple: It fills the chosen target
directory with test data and then reads it back and verifies it.

H2testw does not overwrite or erase any existing data. It doesn't
do any low-level tricks so administrator privileges are not required.
If your hardware is working properly H2testw will not harm any
existing data.

BUT: _If_ the hardware is defective then H2testw is designed to find
that defect and might as a side effect damage existing files.
Therefore: IF YOU SUSPECT A USB STICK OR OTHER STORAGE MEDIA TO BE
DEFECTIVE, EMPTY IT AND TEST IT COMPLETELY WITH H2TESTW. Only empty
media can be fully tested with H2testw. In order to be able to
reproduce the results we recommend to format the media (quick format
will do) and then test it.

It's most definitely a fake if you paid less than R300 for a 32GB flashdrive. Those Transcend 32GB flashdrives retail for about R600.

Im afraid he is right, im a reseller and i can tell you that i cant even buy a 32GB anywhere close to that price even excluding VAT...either its fake or its stolen or who ever you bought it from bought them in like batches of a billion!! hehe

Anyways im a Corsair fan ive had my 8GB Survivor GT which i paid a fortune for when it fist came out in the UK like 4-5 years ago but even today speed wise its still blazing fast and cause its in that aluminium waterproof case its still rock solid!! Saying that i freakin love Corsair products, i got the modular HX850 power supply which is just mental. Some guys did a stress test on the 850 and it only tapped out at 1200W!! Also running the 2000Mhz Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 memory with cooling fan, in most ways its actually even to fast for my moderately OC'd machine. Sorry going on a tangent but i suppose everyone has their preferred brands......ASUS, Western Digital, Corsair and Intel for me thanks.

Have a great day

In the US Newegg often has unbelievable specials on genuine flash drives - you can regularly buy brand name (Kingston, Transcend, Adata, Corsair etc.) 32GB flash drives for around $30. I'm not sure why we can't get similar deals over here. The prices of flash drives at the large SA chain stores like Makro and Game are never really competitive even when they are on special. They often do have good discounts on external hard drives though. Hopefully the arrival of Walmart will help to lower the prices of some mainstream computer hardware.

Thats because of returns to scale. They sell a LOT more there than we do here. I take an example, some air rifle equipment in south africa cost a lot more here than over in America, that's because one single website -i forget the name- can push as much merchandise in a month than the whole SA market buys in a year. Thus, they can afford to sell it more cheaply.
