Did you manage to do it without breaking any clips on the enclosure?

Yes, used a flat small screw driver to wedge and slowly move around it. Started at the front. One of the clips were bent but not to the extent that I couldn't bend it back.

Can reuse the casing later for another drive.

Thanks for the reply.

I have 2x Seagate Expansion drives and one Backup Plus V2 (the one with the blue underside) drives. The one Expansion drive was bought secondhand and appears to have been opened at some point because the shell seems slightly loose whereas the one I bought new is very tightly together. I'm thinking that the clips are probably stretched on the secondhand one.

I can't complain though, it's a 4TB and it only cost me R670. It passed every test I threw at it, and was less than a year old when I got it.

I don't think it's easy to put these drives back together for the sake of warranty though. Might be an issue to get it to clip as tightly as it did out of the box.

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm going to watch an episode of Sherlock - and make up my mind after that :p

And? I need some peer pressure to make me buy it :D I'd glady wait till I actually need one, but the thing is the rand is continually getting weaker and that damned 35% import tax that gets levied on large PC monitors :(

edit: I bit the bullet and bought one before load shedding was about to kick in...

I decided to go for it after checking out a few videos of the thing and decided I could live with one or two scratches

It's a great monitor, been using mine for about a month now and loving it.

WD Green 2TB internal HDD from Esquire going for R779 excl. VAT.

Anyone know what the catch might be? Seems like a really good deal.
