I think that model uses a Boxchip F10 processor. You may be able to get a Realtek RTD1055 based machine for a similar price. The Realtek players support more formats and some even have WiFi. Take a look at the Mecer MP1055 or wait for an Esquire AC Ryan Essential special (they had a bundle with a 1TB HD last week for R999). You could PM Esquire to see if this is still available.

Did not like the AC ryan. A well powered android mini PC with xbmc is recommended. Not sure about the price range. Also just got a rasberry Pi running pibmc, 2nd hand for R350. Slight lag in the Ui, but xbmc for R350 over other players any day

Jeez, I'm in complete disagreement with all you 3d HATERS!

I use 3D very often on my tv. Yes, I have a huge collection of 3D movies, but that isn't the main attraction. It's gaming. I love playing xbox/ps games in 3D. It really to helps captivate me (try Trine 2 on ps4). To be fair tho, my gaming habits have died down and I very seldom have time for it, but I still feel that 3D offers enough to warrant purchasing.

In saying that, the 2d to 3d conversion gimmick is absolute rubbish.. That's a complete waste of time.
I don't use my 3D option much but I have to agree Trine 2 is amazing in 3D. Beautifully done

The AC Ryan Essential has no firmware updates and no longer supported & is discontinuedby AC Ryan.
Saying that, it is however a nice little media player for the price.

ACR Essentials has been serving my folks for well over a year. Haven't needed to update firmware since buying it.

I know the brand. In my experience very very good. Don't know about the specific model. I considered getting them myself.

whats the easiest way of purchasing from esquire these dayz? lost my account in their 'clearout'.

How well does the system work for you?

I went for the easylink 8CH+8 camera and added a spare 500GB SATA I had lying around at home (gives me 3 weeks of recordings with all camera's set on motion record). Paid a local cable installer to install and run cables as I am too big to get around inside our roof at home.

The system is awesome - I would buy the exact same one again in a heartbeat. Mobile and desktop app's work great - only irritation is that you have to Log Out of the desktop app when you close it - you can't just close it.

Day clarity and night time vision is superb - the camera's come with 2 very big LED's which glow red and can be seen with the naked eye - I like this as from the street, criminals can see them glowing and it will deter them further. I cannot say enough good things about this system and now with this price drop - unbeatable!

@FlashSA What happens if the criminals get in to your place and then trash the system? Any video or photographic evidence could be destroyed?</derail>

Are these good headphones for music or is there something better in the same price range?

Depends what you're after?

This is not an over ear product. This is an On ear product.
As an on ear headphone this would be great. But in the over ear category there is little noise cancelling and the comfort level is compromised with the steel frame pushing on your head for long durations

My security at home now includes monitored electric fence and house alarm along with the CCTV. I also have the DVR hidden at the top of a cupboard and it is very quiet so I doubt they would have enough time to steal or destroy it before armed reaponse arrived (last break in, guys were here in 3min) as I stay less than a km from their control room.

@Richard - I collected from Esquire so no delivery used. You will now pay about R4600 odd including Zuma's cut. I paid R5500incl in July. Paid a guy 2 grand to install properly with camera's at best positions.

Are you utilizing all 8 cameras ? Dont remind me of Nkindla royalities. Its a good price I was quoted about R10 grand to install 4 cameras. Hope this kit is realiable and won't fail on me. Reading reviews on amazon.

Yes, using all 8 but 1 is focused on an outside storeroom for the sole reason that we had 1 camera left after covering all parts of the property so I asked the guy to stick it there so I can watch the gardener during the day in case he has nap times.

I just got told that there are good opening offers at Dion wired cresta. Can't find anything online though
