Many of those sellers are useless kants, they rate everything 9/10, give very little specific hardware specs and then either don't answer questions or their replies are so vague as to be useless.

I've got some good deals every so often, I make sure they explain the condition and specs before bidding or I just leave it.

Did they refund the shipping both ways, how difficult was it to get them to agree to a return?

I clicked on the link , I was logged into my Amazon account in that browser, installed app and then claimed the $5 via the same link.

Maybe that's not a perfect timeline but I just followed the link instructions, promo may also have ended?
