Hey all, last week I tried to help someone with her laptop. I ask this in this section, cause it is a hardware problem. She always used her Samsung e250 with usb cable to connect through virgin. All worked fine, but some day it just stopped working. When she click dial, almost immediately she gets an error message, that the connection can not be established due to a hardware failure in the modem. So I told her to take the phone to be checked out. The did a software update. The problem is still with her, now vodacare tell her the problem must be with her laptop. I did check everything I could think of, dailup numbers, the laptop "see" the modem, that long string is correct. What else can I check? ( I can't remember the error code it gave us) Thanks in advance.

OMW, I'm trying to sort out the exact same issue as we speak...
Over Gtalk it is a bit harder.

Can't you post a screen shot of the error.

Are you sure it sees the modem? Believe it or not, but cganging the usb port helps sometimes! :)

howzit going!

When you say hardware failure what exact message does she get? Is it related to the USB function?

and what operating system is she using on her laptop? Is it Vista or XP?

and what kind of laptop is it?

sorry... just getting more info!

Hey, all good! She has a Fujitsu Siemens, entry level, running xp sp2. I cant remember the exact error message, but it did not tell me more than I mentioned, just that there is a hardware failure in the modem. Thats the part that I can't understand. Vodacare did the software update on the "modem", and then when the problem is still there, they say it's the laptop. Anyway I just spoke to her, and she told me that someone is busy formatting and re-installing xp for her, so we'll check the exact error message tomorrow. Thanks

Kiepie: Update C++ runtimes...you can d/l them off the MS site. If that doesn't help the update the Launcher app...and if that doesn't help then you're pretty much stuffed.

jacqvt: Had a similar problem, but with a SEw850i. The problem lies on the phone side afaik. And i don't think there is anything you can do about it.

damn phone software. I had to get a software upgrade on my iPAQ as well. It was also giving me hardware errors. Maybe you can wait for an upgrade or try a different phone?

Okay, finally tonight I got the error code, it's 692, basically it says theres a hardware failure with the modem or other connecting device. But the lady told me that whenever she plug the phone into someone else's laptop, who have the same phone, it's all working, and also with my phone, which is a d900, on her laptop. So strange enough the problem is with her phone and her laptop. Someone re-installed xp for her, and all her programs, and the problem is still the same. She created new connections too, but nothing helps. Hope someone has an answer? Thanks
