Hi guys

I was wondering if any of you know where I can buy a hardware version of a keylogger.

For those that haven't herd of such a thing, it's a device that you plug your keyboard into and in turn plug the device into the slot that you'd plug your keyboard into.

Firstly why do you wanna use it...

Also you can literally just google Hardware Keylogger and get loads of results. Check keyghost and keydevil.

To keep tabs on whats being done on my PC. Living with others and I don't want any dodgy things being done on my pc.

If there's a safe software keylogger out there I'd go for that as well

The primary reason for using a hardware based keylogger is to record passwords entered before a software based keylogger can be started.
You can build one with some basic knowledge of electronics, but I'll leave you to find out how for yourself.

I hear u can turn a mac keyboard into a hardware keylogger by fiddling with the firmware!!

Well you could also just as easily plant a trojan and let that log keys, if you have physical access.

Apparently there's not a lot of space available for too many keystrokes.

Cut to the chase, and install a strong password on your BIOS, as well as your Windows XP install.

(I have to assume you're using WindowsXP or better, and not Windows98 whose security is so easy to bypass...)

And develop the habit to lock your computer every time you walk away from it by using the windows key+L.

i can probably write a program that takes screenshots of what they are doing in the background, along with some video footage from the webcam...

I need to let them have access to the pc because we're all paying for the internet access.

I was actually trying to find something like that on the web. But couldn't find anything that would let me specify when to activate or what program to activate with if used.

why not get uncapped internet if some person is using up all the bandwidth?

Sell the desktop and buy a laptop, and take it with you.

Well, an easy solution is to create multiple accounts in Windows, and then install something like Netnanny on the machine. They usually have a mode that just monitors where they go, doesn't stop them from going to any sites. You can then check through the logs to see if they are doing anything bandwidth intensive.

hmmm... keylog? are you after your flatmates' banking details or facebook details?

ok guys, enough with accusations...I'm open to other ideas like the two that have been mentioned.
