Got a Windows XP desktop with a ASUS EN210 Silent that I was aiming to do a clean install and use as a HTPC.

Thing is, everything is fine throughout installation. The bios displays properly along with the bios config. The installation of the OS goes without a hitch until I get to the desktop which also displays perfectly. The moment I install the graphics card drivers, things go pearshape. All the colors are messed up mix of red green and blue and the pointer is a square box of horizontal lines.

Any advice?

EDIT: and dxdiag shows direct3d acceleration unavailable

Which drivers are you using? XP is likely no longer supported and strange things would probably happen with newer drivers.

I'd recommend ditching XP as it's a dumpster fire and use Windows 10 or a Linux based operating system.

I guess you're right. A Linux installation would probably confirm if the card is borked or not. Then I may as well carry on using it.

Why not windows 7?
I installed Windows 10 on my HTPC, Not the best decision i have made.

Can't find it anywhere. Everywhere I go now only has Windows 10.

You cant find a key or the software?

If you are looking for a key, check Ebay and make sure its a verified seller. You can pick one up there for relatively cheap. You can always download a legal ISO from Piratebay.

Rather download a ISO from Piratebay and install it, you should have 3 days before you need to activate, this will give you time to check if everything works before you buy a key on Ebay.
