Hi Guys

Anyone care to comment on the difference in voice quality between a Hardware SIP phone and a Softphone.

I'm wanting to run VOIPBuster through a hardware phone so that the PC doesn't need to be on 24/7 (currently running a USB TelBox)

But am not wanting to spend the cash unless the call quality is superior.

No diffs really, hardware still runs software to implement codecs etc. Of course quality will vary from vendor to vendor (coding efficency, features etc.) irrelevant of whether solution is packaged with or without hw.

OK, so basically they have the advantage of not needing a PC to run them, other than that nothing major.

I notice that when talking to my folks over the WLAN to their PC - it's shocking (PII 300), so I would hope in that instance it would be better on a full HW SIP phone as opposed to the VOIPBuster app and the USB TelBox.

Thanks for the input.
