Harrison Ford got into a plane crash today, but the Star Wars actor has survived.

According to many reports he is in a critical condition in hospital. The link above says he's doing okay.

Ford was flying his vintage World War II plane and crashed on a golf course.

Ford was alone in the plane. He was flying... solo.

Looks like a T-6 Texan or Harvard as we know it.

Oops, its a 1942 Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR

Wouldn't that be so weird?
To be golfing, see a WWII era plane crash into the ground, then go up it and find Harrison Ford inside?

I'm really glad he made it though. I hope he can make a quick and full recovery. That might be difficult though, considering his age.

72 is far too old to be flying.

Says who? According to the article the problem was engine failure. If the pilot made no mistakes and cannot be blamed for the accident, why shouldn't he be allowed to fly? You get 72 year old people who are ancient, and you get 72 year old people in better condition than some 50-something year old people.

If he can pass his flight medical at 72, he can fly.

I agree with this. If he is still able to pass medical and other flight tests, he should be allowed to fly. Hope he pulls through okay though.

This is also his second plane crash. If memory serves - The last one was a helicopter crash in the 90's. In that case he and the instructor was able to do a textbook autorotate landing and both walked away with a few scrapes.

Beat that, Travolta.

PS - About his age. My favorite person when I was a kid was a family friend's mum. Elderly British lady, lived through both World Wars, smoked, and drank at least 1 G&T a day. Once told us she was probably a co-founder of the mile-high club on Armistice Day. (Back seat of a biplane while his buddy flew. Now that is a wingman):D
She took a afternoon nap at age 98, and never woke up. She lived more at 90 than most 40 year old's I know.

Age is not a speed limit. That landing Ford did would have been impressive for a 27 year old.

Clearly that experience dodging imperial tie fighters and asteroids in the millennium falcon has paid off

While I don't approve of his methods, it seems god hates the idea of a Blade Runner sequel just as much as I do.
Get well soon Mr. Ford.
