HARRISON FORD INJURED IN GOLF COURSE PLANE CRASH

Actor Harrison Ford was hospitalized with head injuries after he crashed a vintage World War II aeroplane on a golf course in Santa Monica, California, Thursday.
His son, Ben Ford, said his father was "battered, but OK" on his Twitter feed after visiting him in the hospital. Describing his 72-year-old father as "incredibly strong," he added: "He is every bit the man you would think he is."
NBC News quoted unidentified sources as saying Ford had "serious" cuts to the head and possible fractures.
Ford's spokeswoman Ina Treciokas told dpa his injuries were not life threatening and said doctors predicted the actor would make a full recovery.
The plane crashed at about 2:30 pm (2230 GMT) on the Penmar Golf Course a short distance away from Santa Monica's general aviation airport, officials said. Witness Howard Teba told NBC two doctors who were golfing treated Ford at the scene.
Ford was alone in the plane, according to investigators who spoke at a news conference. The aeroplane experienced a loss of power shortly after takeoff and turned around, an official with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said.
The official declined to speculate on what might have gone wrong with the vintage aeroplane's engine, but said, "I'm sure the pilot was glad that there was a golf course here."
The NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash, the official said.
Ford, a longtime pilot, is best known for his starring film roles as Star Wars' Han Solo and the swashbuckling archeologist Indiana Jones.
